2 Chronicles

Chapter 22

1 THEN the inhabitants of Jerusalem made Ahaziah his youngest son king in his stead; for raiders had come to the camp and slain all the eldest. So Ahaziah the son of Jehoram king of Judah reigned.

2 Twenty-two years old was Ahaziah when he began to reign, and he reigned one year in Jerusalem. His mother's name was Athaliah the daughter of Omri.

3 And he walked in the ways of the house of Ahab, for he was the son of Ahab's sister.

4 He also committed many sins and did evil in the sight of the LORD like the house of Ahab; for they were his counsellors after the death of his father to his destruction,

5 Because he walked after their counsel, and went with Joram the son of Ahab king of Israel to war against Hazael king of Aram at Ramath-gilead; and the Arameans smote Joram.

6 And he returned to be healed in Jezreel because of the wounds which he had received at Ramtha, when he fought with Hazael king of Aram. And Ahaziah went down to see Joram the son of Ahab in Jezreel because he was sick.

7 And the destruction of Ahaziah was determined by God, who decreed that he should go to Joram; for when he was come, he went out with Joram to meet Jehu the son of Jamshi, whom the LORD had anointed to destroy the house of Ahab.

8 And when Jehu was executing judgment upon the house of Ahab, he found the princes of Judah and the sons of the brothers of Ahaziah who ministered to Ahaziah and slew them.

9 And he sought Ahaziah and he caught him (for he was hiding in Samaria) and brought him to Jehu; and when they had slain him, they buried him; for they said, He is the son of Jehoshaphat, who sought the LORD with all his heart. So the house of Ahaziah had no one with power to rule over the kingdom.

10 Now when Athaliah the mother of Ahaziah saw that her son was dead, she arose and destroyed all the king's sons of the house of Judah.

11 But Jehoshabeath, the daughter of the king, stole Joash the son of Ahaziah from among the king's sons who were about to be slain, and hid him and his nurse in her bedchamber. So Jehoshabeath, the daughter of King Jehoram, the wife of Jehoiadah the priest (for she was the sister of Ahaziah), hid him from Athaliah so that she did not slay him.

12 And he was hid with her in the house of the LORD six Years; and Athaliah reigned over the land.

1 耶路撒冷的居民立約蘭的小兒子亞哈謝接續他作王；因為跟隨阿拉伯人來攻營的軍兵曾殺了亞哈謝的眾兄長。這樣，猶大王約蘭的兒子亞哈謝作了王。

2 亞哈謝登基的時候年四十二歲［Forty and two years old］，在耶路撒冷作王一年。他母親名叫亞她利雅，是暗利的孫女。

3 亞哈謝也行亞哈家的道；因為他母親給他主謀，使他行惡。

4 他行耶和華眼中看為惡的事，像亞哈家一樣；因他父親死後有亞哈家的人給他主謀，以致敗壞。

5 他聽從亞哈家的計謀，同以色列王亞哈的兒子約蘭往拉末．基列去，與敘利亞王哈薛爭戰；敘利亞人擊傷了［smote］約蘭。

6 約蘭回到耶斯列，為要［because of］醫治在拉末與敘利亞王哈薛打仗所受的傷。猶大王約蘭的兒子亞撒利雅［Azariah］因為亞哈的兒子約蘭病了，就下到耶斯列看望他。

7 亞哈謝去見約蘭就被害了，這是出乎神；因為他到了，就同約蘭出去攻擊寧示的孫子耶戶。這耶戶是耶和華所膏、使他剪除亞哈家的。

8 耶戶討亞哈家罪的時候，遇見猶大的眾首領和亞哈謝的眾姪子服事亞哈謝，就把他們都殺了。

9 亞哈謝，（藏在撒瑪利亞，）耶戶尋找他，眾人將他拿住，送到耶戶那裏，就殺了他，將他葬埋；因他們說，他是那盡心尋求耶和華之約沙法的兒子。這樣，亞哈謝的家無力保守國權。

10 亞哈謝的母親亞她利雅見她兒子死了，就起來剿滅猶大王室。

11 但王的女兒約示巴將亞哈謝的兒子約阿施從那被殺的王子中偷出來，把他和他的乳母都藏在臥房裏。約示巴是約蘭王的女兒，（亞哈謝的妹子，）祭司耶何耶大的妻。她收藏約阿施，躲避亞她利雅，免得被殺。

12 約阿施和她們一同藏在神殿裏六年；亞她利雅篡了國位。

9 And he sought Ahaziah and he caught him (for he was hiding in Samaria) and brought him to Jehu; and when they had slain him, they buried him; for they said, He is the son of Jehoshaphat, who sought the LORD with all his heart. 10 Now when Athaliah the mother of Ahaziah saw that her son was dead, she arose and destroyed all the king's sons of the house of Judah.

11 But Jehoshabeath, the daughter of the king, stole Joash the son of Ahaziah from among the king's sons who were about to be slain, and hid him and his nurse in her bedchamber. 12 And he was hid with her in the house of the LORD six Years; and Athaliah reigned over the land.
