Глава 3

1 После сего царь Ахашверош возвысил Амана, сына Медафы, Агагитянина, и отличил его, и поставил стул его выше всех князей, которые у него.

2 И все служащие при царе, которые у царских ворот, кланялись и падали ниц пред Аманом, потому что царь приказал это делать ему. А Мардохей не кланялся и не падал.

3 И говорили служащие при царе, которые у царских ворот, Мардохею: зачем ты преступаешь царское повеление?

4 И как они говорили ему каждый день, и он не слушал, то они донесли Аману, чтобы посмотреть, устоит ли дело Мардохеево, ибо он открыл им, что он Иудеянин.

5 Аман увидел, что Мардохей не кланяется и не падает пред ним, и исполнился Аман гнева.

6 И показалось для глаз его маловажным наложить руку на одного Мардохея; поелику сказали ему, из какого Мардохей народа, то Аман задумал истребить всех Иудеев, которые были во всем царстве Ахашвероша, весь народ Мардохеев.

7 В первый месяц, то есть, в месяц Нисан, в двенадцатый год царя Ахашвероша, бросали пред лицем Амана, пур, то есть, жребий, со дня на день, и с месяца в месяц, и выпал он на двенадцатый месяц, то есть, на месяц Адар.

8 И сказал Аман царю Ахашверошу: есть один народ разбросанный и рассеянный между народами по всем областям твоего царства. Законы их отличны от всех народов, и они не выполняют законов царских. Царю не надлежало бы так оставлять их.

9 Не угодно ли царю предписать, чтоб истребили их; я отвешу десять тысяч талантов серебра и отдам в руки приставленным к сему делу, чтобы внести в царскую казну.

10 И снял царь перстень с руки своей, и отдал его Аману, сыну Медафы, Агагитянину, врагу Иудеев.

11 И сказал царь Аману: серебро отдаю тебе и народ, чтобы ты поступил с ним, как глазам твоим понравится.

12 И призваны царские писцы в первый месяц, в тринадцатый день его, и написано так, как приказал Аман, к сатрапам царским и к областеначальникам, которые над каждою областью, и к главным у каждого народа и в каждой области, их письменами, и к каждому народу на его языке. Написано от имени царя Ахашвероша, и запечатано царским перстнем.

13 И посланы письма чрез гонцев во все области царевы, чтоб истребить, убить и погубить всех Иудеев от малого до старого, детей и женщин, в один день, в тринадцатый день двенадцатого месяца, то есть, месяца Адара, и имение их разграбить.

14 Список с написанного велено было отдать во всякую область, как указ открытый для всех народов, чтоб они были готовы к сему дню.

15 Гонцы погнали быстро по царскому повелению. И в городе Сусане дан был указ. Царь и Аман сели пить, а город Сусан был в испуге.

Chapter 3

1 AFTER these things King Akhshirash promoted Haman the son of Hammadatha the Agagite, and advanced him, and set his seat above all the princes who were with him.

2 And all the king's servants who were at the king's gate bowed down and did obeisance to Haman; for the king had so commanded concerning him. But Mordecai would not bow nor pay him reverence.

3 Then the king's servants who were at the king's gate said to Mordecai, Why do you transgress the king's commandment?

4 Now it came to pass when they spoke daily to him and he would not listen to them, they told Haman, to know whether Mordecai's words were the truth; for he had told them that he was a Jew.

5 And when Haman saw that Mordecai did not bow down nor do him obeisance, then Haman was full of wrath against Mordecai.

6 And he thought it nothing to lay hands on Mordecai alone; for they had revealed to him the people of Mordecai; wherefore Haman sought to destroy all the Jews who were throughout the whole kingdom of Akhshirash, even the people of Mordecai.

7 In the first month, that is, the month of Nisan, in the twelfth year of King Akhshirash, they cast lots be fore Haman from day to day and from month to month. Then in the twelfth month, that is, the month of Adar,

8 Haman said to King Akhshirash, There is a certain people scattered abroad and dispersed among the people in all the provinces of King Akhshirash; and their laws are different from those of all other people; and they do not keep the king's laws; therefore the king ought not to spare them.

9 If it please the king, let it be written that they may be destroyed; and I will weigh ten thousand talents of silver to the hands of those who have charge of the business, to bring it into the king's treasuries.

10 And the king took his ring from his hand and gave it to Haman the son of Hammadatha the Agagite, the enemy of the Jews.

11 And the king said to Haman, The silver is given to you, the people also, to do with them as it seems good to you.

12 Then the king's scribe was called on the thirteenth day of the first month, and there was written according to all that Haman had commanded to the king's commanders and to the governors that were over every province and to the princes of every people of every province according to the writing thereof and to every people according to their language; in the name of King Akhshirash it was written and sealed with the king's ring.

13 And the letters were sent by couriers to all the king's provinces, to destroy, to kill, and to cause to perish all Jews, both young and old, little children and women, in one day, even upon the thirteenth day of the twelfth month, which is the month Adar, and to take their wealth for a prey. In the same day on the thirteenth day of the month of Adar they were written.

14 The copy of the writing was given in every province, commanding all the people to be ready for that day.

15 The couriers went out, being hastened by the king's command, and the decree was given in Shushan the palace. And the king and Haman sat down to drink; but the city of Shushan was in an uproar.

6 And he thought it nothing to lay hands on Mordecai alone; for they had revealed to him the people of Mordecai; wherefore Haman sought to destroy all the Jews who were throughout the whole kingdom of Akhshirash, even the people of Mordecai.

7 В первый месяц, то есть, в месяц Нисан, в двенадцатый год царя Ахашвероша, бросали пред лицем Амана, пур, то есть, жребий, со дня на день, и с месяца в месяц, и выпал он на двенадцатый месяц, то есть, на месяц Адар.

7 In the first month, that is, the month of Nisan, in the twelfth year of King Akhshirash, they cast lots be fore Haman from day to day and from month to month. Then in the twelfth month, that is, the month of Adar,

8 И сказал Аман царю Ахашверошу: есть один народ разбросанный и рассеянный между народами по всем областям твоего царства. Законы их отличны от всех народов, и они не выполняют законов царских. Царю не надлежало бы так оставлять их.

8 Haman said to King Akhshirash, There is a certain people scattered abroad and dispersed among the people in all the provinces of King Akhshirash; and their laws are different from those of all other people; and they do not keep the king's laws; therefore the king ought not to spare them.

9 Не угодно ли царю предписать, чтоб истребили их; я отвешу десять тысяч талантов серебра и отдам в руки приставленным к сему делу, чтобы внести в царскую казну.

9 If it please the king, let it be written that they may be destroyed; and I will weigh ten thousand talents of silver to the hands of those who have charge of the business, to bring it into the king's treasuries.

10 И снял царь перстень с руки своей, и отдал его Аману, сыну Медафы, Агагитянину, врагу Иудеев.

11 И сказал царь Аману: серебро отдаю тебе и народ, чтобы ты поступил с ним, как глазам твоим понравится.

11 And the king said to Haman, The silver is given to you, the people also, to do with them as it seems good to you.

13 И посланы письма чрез гонцев во все области царевы, чтоб истребить, убить и погубить всех Иудеев от малого до старого, детей и женщин, в один день, в тринадцатый день двенадцатого месяца, то есть, месяца Адара, и имение их разграбить.

13 And the letters were sent by couriers to all the king's provinces, to destroy, to kill, and to cause to perish all Jews, both young and old, little children and women, in one day, even upon the thirteenth day of the twelfth month, which is the month Adar, and to take their wealth for a prey. 14 Список с написанного велено было отдать во всякую область, как указ открытый для всех народов, чтоб они были готовы к сему дню.
