2 Und3548 es5930 machte sich5927 auf6965 Jesua3442, der Sohn1121 Jozadaks3136, und1129 seine Brüder251, die Priester, und der Sohn1121 Sealthiels7597, und seine Brüder251, und baueten den Altar4196 des Gottes430 Israels3478, Brandopfer drauf zu opfern, wie es geschrieben3789 stehet im Gesetz8451 Moses4872, des Mannes376 Gottes430.

3 Und richteten zu3559 den Altar4196 auf5927 sein Gestühle4350 (denn es5930 war ein Schrecken367 unter ihnen von den Völkern5971 in Ländern776) und opferten dem HErrn3068 Brandopfer5930 drauf des Morgens1242 und des Abends6153.

4 Und hielten der Laubhütten5521 Fest2282, wie geschrieben3789 stehet; und taten6213 Brandopfer5930 alle3117 Tage3117 nach der Zahl4557, wie sich‘s gebührt4941, einen jeglichen1697 Tag3117 sein Opfer,

5 danach auch die täglichen8548 Brandopfer5930 und der Neumonden2320 und aller Festtage4150 des HErrn3068, die geheiliget waren310, und allerlei freiwillige Opfer5071, die sie6942 dem HErrn3068 freiwillig5068 taten.

6 Am ersten259 Tage3117 des siebenten7637 Monden2320 fingen sie an2490, dem HErrn3068 Brandopfer5930 zu tun5927. Aber der Grund3245 des Tempels1964 des HErrn3068 war noch nicht gelegt.

7 Sie gaben5414 aber Geld3701 den Steinmetzen2672 und6086 Zimmerleuten2796 und Speise3978 und Trank4960 und Öl8081 denen zu Zidon und zu Tyrus6876, daß sie Zedernholz730 vom Libanon3844 aufs Meer3220 gen Japho3305 brächten935 nach dem Befehl7558 Kores3566, des Königs4428 in Persien6539, an sie.

8 Im andern8145 Jahr8141 ihrer Zukunft zum Hause1004 Gottes430 gen Jerusalem3389, des andern8145 Monden2320, fingen an2490 Serubabel2216, der Sohn1121 Sealthiels7597, und3548 Jesua3442, der Sohn1121 Jozadaks3136, und5975 die übrigen7605 ihrer Brüder251, Priester und1121 Leviten3881, und alle, die vom Gefängnis7628 kommen935 waren935 gen Jerusalem3389, und stelleten die Leviten3881 von zwanzig6242 Jahren8141 und drüber, zu treiben5329 das Werk4399 am Hause1004 des HErrn3068.

9 Und5975 Jesua3442 stund mit seinen Söhnen1121 und Brüdern251 und Kadmiel6934 mit seinen Söhnen1121 und die259 Kinder1121 Juda3063 wie ein Mann, zu6213 treiben5329 die Arbeiter4399 am Hause1004 Gottes430, nämlich die Kinder1121 Henadad2582 mit ihren Kindern1121 und ihren Brüdern251, die Leviten3881.

10 Und1129 da die Bauleute den Grund3245 legten am Tempel1964 des HErrn3068, stunden die Priester, angezogen3847, mit Trommeten und die Leviten3881, die Kinder1121 Assaph, mit Zimbeln4700, zu loben1984 den HErrn3068 mit dem Gedicht3027 Davids1732, des Königs4428 Israels3478.

11 Und sangen6030 umeinander mit Loben1984 und Danken3034 dem HErrn3068, daß er gütig ist3245 und seine Barmherzigkeit2617 ewiglich5769 währet über Israel3478. Und alles Volk5971 tönete laut1419 mit Loben1984 den HErrn3068, daß der Grund3245 am Hause1004 des HErrn3068 gelegt war2896.

12 Aber viele7227 der alten2205 Priester und3548 Leviten3881 und obersten7218 Väter1, die das vorige7223 Haus1004 gesehen7200 hatten und nun dies Haus1004 vor ihren Augen5869 gegründet3245 ward, weineten sie1058 laut7311. Viele7227 aber töneten mit Freuden8643, daß das Geschrei6963 hoch1419 erscholl,

13 daß das6963 Volk5971 nicht5234 erkennen konnte das8085 Tönen mit Freuden8643 vor dem Geschrei6963 des Weinens1065 im Volk5971; denn das Volk5971 tönete laut1419, daß man das Geschrei6963 ferne7350 hörete.

Chapter 3

1 AND when the seventh month was come and the children of Israel were in their cities, the people gathered themselves together as one man to go up to Jerusalem.

2 Then stood Joshua the son of Jozadak and his brethren the priests and Zerubbabel the son of Shelathiel and his brethren, and they built the altar to the God of Israel, to offer burnt offerings upon it as it is written in the law of Moses the prophet of God.

3 And they set the altar upon its bases; for fear was upon them because of the peoples who dwelt in the cities, and they offered burnt offerings upon it to the LORD, even burnt offerings morning and evening.

4 And they kept the feast of tabernacles, as it is written, and offered the daily burnt offerings by number, according to the custom, according to the daily requirements;

5 And afterward offered the continual burnt offering, both of the new moons and of all the feasts of the LORD that were consecrated and of every one who willingly offered a freewill offering to the LORD.

6 From the first day of the seventh month they began to offer burnt offerings to the LORD. But the foundation of the temple of the LORD was not yet laid.

7 They gave money to the masons and to the carpenters; and for the food and drink and oil to the Syrians and the Zidonians, to bring cedar trees from Lebanon by the sea to Joppa, according to the grant that they had from Cyrus king of Persia.

8 Now in the second year of their coming to the house of the LORD at Jerusalem, in the second month, sent Zerubbabel the son of Shelathiel and Joshua the son of Jozadak and the remnant of their brethren and the priests and the Levites and all they that were come out of the captivity to Jerusalem, and appointed the Levites from twenty years old and upward to look after the work of the house of the LORD in the day time.

9 Then stood Joshua with his brethren and his sons, Kadmiah and his sons, and the sons of Judah, together, to execute the work of the house of the LORD; also the sons of Hendar, with their sons and their brethren, the Levites.

10 And when the builders laid the foundation of the building of the temple of the LORD, the priests stood up in their vestments with trumpets of rams blowing with them, and the Levites the sons of Asaph with large trumpets, to praise the LORD according to the ordinance of David, king of Israel.

11 And they sang together in unison in praising and giving thanks to the LORD because he is good, for his mercy endures for ever toward Israel. And all the people shouted with a great shout when they praised the LORD because the foundation of the house of the LORD was laid.

12 But many of the priests and the Levites and the chiefs of the fathers, old men, who had seen the first house in its glory, when the foundation of this house was laid before their eyes, wept with a loud voice, and many raised their voices with trumpets and with joy,

13 So that the people could not discern the sound of the trumpets from the noise of the weeping of the people; for the people blew trumpets with a loud blast and the noise of weeping was heard afar off.

12 But many of the priests and the Levites and the chiefs of the fathers, old men, who had seen the first house in its glory, when the foundation of this house was laid before their eyes, wept with a loud voice, and many raised their voices with trumpets and with joy,

13 So that the people could not discern the sound of the trumpets from the noise of the weeping of the people; for the people blew trumpets with a loud blast and the noise of weeping was heard afar off.
