Das erste Buch Mose (Genesis)

Kapitel 40

1 Und310 es1697 begab sich danach, daß sich der Schenke8248 des Königs4428 in Ägypten4714 und der Bäcker644 versündigten2398 an ihrem Herrn113, dem Könige4428 in Ägypten4714.

2 Und Pharao6547 ward zornig7107 über5921 seine8147 beiden Kämmerer5631, über den Amtmann8269 über die Schenken8248 und über den Amtmann8269 über die Bäcker644,

3 und ließ5414 sie setzen in des Hofmeisters Haus1004 ins Gefängnis4929, da4725 Joseph3130 gefangen lag631.

4 Und der Hofmeister setzte Joseph3130 über8269 sie6485, daß er ihnen dienete; und saßen etliche Tage3117 im Gefängnis4929.

5 Und es träumete ihnen8147 beiden, dem Schenken8248 und Bäcker644 des Königs4428 zu Ägypten4714, in einer Nacht3915, einem jeglichen376 ein259 eigener Traum2472; und eines jeglichen376 Traum2472 hatte2492 seine Bedeutung6623.

6 Da nun des Morgens1242 Joseph3130 zu ihnen hinein kam und sah7200, daß sie traurig waren935,

7 fragte7592 er sie6440 und6547 sprach559: Warum seid ihr heute3117 so traurig7451?

8 Sie559 antworteten: Es hat uns2492 geträumet, und haben niemand, der es uns auslege6622. Joseph3130 sprach559: Auslegen6623 gehöret GOtt430 zu, doch erzählet5608 mir‘s.

9 Da erzählete der oberste8269 Schenke seinen Traum2472 Joseph3130 und sprach559 zu ihm: Mir8248 hat geträumet, daß ein Weinstock1612 vor mir6440 wäre,

10 der1612 hatte drei7969 Reben8299, und er grünete, wuchs5927 und blühete, und seine Trauben811 wurden reif1310;

11 und6547 ich hatte den Becher3563 Pharaos6547 in meiner Hand3027 und nahm3947 die Beeren6025 und zerdrückte7818 sie in den Becher3563 und gab5414 den Becher3563 Pharao6547 in die Hand3709.

12 Joseph3130 sprach559 zu ihm: Das ist seine Deutung6623: Drei7969 Reben8299 sind drei7969 Tage3117.

13 Über5750 drei7969 Tage3117 wird Pharao6547 dein Haupt7218 erheben5375 und6547 dich wieder7725 an dein Amt3653 stellen, daß du ihm den Becher3563 in die Hand3027 gebest nach der vorigen7223 Weise4941, da du sein Schenke5414 warst8248.

14 Aber gedenke2142 meiner, wenn dir‘s3190 wohlgehet, und6213 tu Barmherzigkeit2617 an2142 mir, daß du Pharao6547 erinnerst, daß er mich aus3318 diesem Hause1004 führe.

15 Denn ich bin aus dem Lande776 der Ebräer heimlich gestohlen1589; dazu habe7760 ich auch allhie nichts3972 getan6213, daß sie mich eingesetzt haben953.

16 Da der oberste8269 Bäcker644 sah7200, daß die Deutung6622 gut2896 war, sprach559 er zu Joseph3130: Mir hat auch637 geträumet, ich trüge drei7969 weiße2751 Körbe5536 auf meinem Haupt7218,

17 und im obersten5945 Korbe5536 allerlei gebackene Speise3978 dem Pharao6547; und die Vögel5775 aßen398 aus dem Korbe5536 auf5921 meinem Haupt7218

18 Joseph3130 antwortete6030 und sprach559: Das ist seine Deutung6623: Drei7969 Körbe5536 sind drei7969 Tage3117.

19 Und nach dreien7969 Tagen3117 wird dir Pharao6547 dein Haupt7218 erheben5375 und dich an den Galgen6086 henken8518, und die Vögel5775 werden dein Fleisch1320 von dir essen398.

20 Und es geschah des dritten7992 Tages3117, da beging Pharao6547 seinen Jahrtag; und er machte6213 eine Mahlzeit4960 allen seinen Knechten5650 und erhub das Haupt7218 des obersten8269 Schenken8248 und das Haupt des obersten8269 Bäckers644 unter8432 seinen Knechten5650;

21 und setzte7725 den obersten8269 Schenken8248 wieder7725 zu seinem Schenkamt4945, daß er5414 den Becher3563 reichte in Pharaos6547 Hand3709;

22 aber den obersten8269 Bäcker644 ließ er henken8518, wie ihnen Joseph3130 gedeutet hatte6622.

23 Aber der oberste8269 Schenke8248 gedachte2142 nicht an Joseph3130, sondern vergaß7911 sein.

Genesis

Chapter 40

1 AND it came to pass after these things that the chief butler of the king of Egypt and the chief baker had offended their lord the king of Egypt.

2 And Pharaoh was wroth against two of his officers, against the chief of the butlers, and against the chief of the bakers.

3 And he put them into the prison in the house of the commander of the guard, in the ward where Joseph was bound.

4 And the commander of the guard charged Joseph with them, and he served them; and they remained for some time in the prison.

5 And they both dreamed, each man his own dream in the same night, each man according to the interpretation of his dream, the butler and the baker of the king of Egypt, who were bound in the prison.

6 And Joseph came in to them in the morning, and saw them, and behold, they were sad.

7 So he asked Pharaoh's officers who were with him in the prison of his master's house, saying, Why do you look so sad today?

8 And they said to him, We have dreamed a dream, and there is no one to interpret it. And Joseph said to them, Behold, the interpretations belong to God; tell them to me.

9 Then the chief butler told his dream to Joseph, and said to him, In my dream, behold, a vine was before me;

10 And in the vine were three branches; and when it budded, its blossoms shot forth; and the clusters thereof brought forth ripe grapes;

11 And Pharaoh's cup was in my hand; and I took the grapes, and pressed them into Pharaoh's cup, and I gave the cup into Pharaoh's hands.

12 And Joseph said to him, This is the interpretation of your dream: The three branches are three days;

13 After three days Pharaoh shall remember you and restore you to your position; and you shall give Pharaoh's cup into his hand, as you did before when you were his butler.

14 But remember me when it shall be well with you, and do me a favor and justice, and make mention of me in the presence of Pharaoh, and bring me out of this prison house;

15 For indeed I was stolen away out of the land of the Hebrews; and here also I have done nothing that they should put me into the prison.

16 When the chief baker saw that the interpretation was good, he said to Joseph, I also saw in my dream, and, behold. I had three baskets containing white bread on my head;

17 And in the uppermost basket there was of every kind of food for Pharaoh, prepared by a baker; and the birds of prey were eating it out of the basket on my head.

18 And Joseph answered and said to him, This is the interpretation of your dream: The three baskets are three days;

19 After three days Pharaoh shall have you beheaded, and then shall crucify you on a tree, and the birds of prey shall eat your flesh from off you.

20 And it came to pass on the third day, which was Pharaoh's birthday, that he made a banquet for all his servants; and he remembered the chief butler and the chief baker among his servants.

21 And he restored the chief butler to his position; and he gave the cup into Pharaoh's hands:

22 But he crucified the chief baker, as Joseph had interpreted to them.

23 Yet the chief butler did not remember Joseph, but forgot him.
