And1161 after3326 five4002 days2250 Ananias367 the3588 high priest749 descended2597 with3326 the3588 elders,4245 and2532 with a certain5100 orator4489 named Tertullus,5061 who3748 informed1718 the3588 governor2232 against2596 Paul.3972
And1161 when he846 was called forth,2564 Tertullus5061 began756 to accuse2723 him, saying,3004 Seeing that by1223 thee4675 we enjoy5177 great4183 quietness,1515 and2532 that very worthy deeds2735 are done1096 unto this5129 nation1484 by1223 thy4674 providence,4307
We accept588 it5037 always,3839 and2532 in all places,3837 most noble2903 Felix,5344 with3326 all3956 thankfulness.2169
Notwithstanding,1161 that2443 I be not further tedious1465 3361 1909 4119 unto thee,4571 I pray3870 thee that thou4571 wouldest hear191 us2257 of thy4674 clemency1932 a few words.4935
For1063 we have found2147 this5126 man435 a pestilent3061 fellow, and2532 a mover2795 of sedition4714 among all3956 the3588 Jews2453 throughout2596 the3588 world,3625 and5037 a ringleader4414 of the3588 sect139 of the3588 Nazarenes: 3480
Who3739 also2532 hath gone about3985 to profane953 the3588 temple:2411 whom3739 we took,2902 and2532 would2309 have judged2919 according2596 to our2251 law.3551
But1161 the3588 chief captain5506 Lysias3079 came3928 upon us, and with3326 great4183 violence970 took him away520 out of1537 our2257 hands,5495
Commanding2753 his848 accusers2725 to come2064 unto1909 thee:4571 by examining350 of3844 whom3739 thyself846 mayest1410 take knowledge1921 of4012 all3956 these things,5130 whereof3739 we2249 accuse2723 him.846
And1161 the3588 Jews2453 also2532 assented,4934 saying5335 that these things5023 were2192 so.3779
Then1161 Paul,3972 after that the3588 governor2232 had beckoned3506 unto him846 to speak,3004 answered,611 Forasmuch as I know1987 that thou4571 hast been5607 of1537 many4183 years2094 a judge2923 unto this5129 nation,1484 I do the more cheerfully2115 answer626 for4012 myself: 1683
Because that thou4675 mayest1410 understand,1097 that3754 there are1526 3427 yet but3756 4119 2228 twelve1177 days2250 since575 3739 I went up305 to1722 Jerusalem2419 for to worship.4352
And2532 they neither3777 found2147 me3165 in1722 the3588 temple2411 disputing1256 with4314 any man,5100 neither2228 raising up4160 1999 the people,3793 neither3777 in1722 the3588 synagogues,4864 nor3777 in2596 the3588 city: 4172
Neither3777 can1410 they prove3936 the things whereof4012 3739 they now3568 accuse2723 me.3450
But1161 this5124 I confess3670 unto thee,4671 that3754 after2596 the3588 way3598 which3739 they call3004 heresy,139 so3779 worship3000 I the God2316 of my fathers,3971 believing4100 all things3956 which are written1125 in2596 the3588 law3551 and2532 in the3588 prophets: 4396
And have2192 hope1680 toward1519 God,2316 which3739 they3778 themselves846 also2532 allow,4327 that there shall3195 be1510 a resurrection386 of the dead,3498 both5037 of the just1342 and2532 unjust.94
And1161 herein1722 5129 do I exercise778 myself,846 to have2192 always1275 a conscience4893 void of offense677 toward4314 God,2316 and2532 toward men.444
Now1161 after1223 many4119 years2094 I came3854 to bring4160 alms1654 to1519 my3450 nation,1484 and2532 offerings.4376
Whereupon1722 3739 1161 certain5100 Jews2453 from575 Asia773 found2147 me3165 purified48 in1722 the3588 temple,2411 neither3756 with3326 multitude,3793 nor3761 with3326 tumult.2351
Who3739 ought1163 to have been here3918 before1909 thee,4675 and2532 object,2723 if they had aught1536 2192 against4314 me.3165
Or2228 else let these3778 same846 here say,2036 if they have found any1536 2147 evil doing92 in1722 me,1698 while I3450 stood2476 before1909 the3588 council,4892
Except2228 it be for4012 this5026 one3391 voice,5456 that3739 I cried2896 standing2476 among1722 them,846 3754 Touching4012 the resurrection386 of the dead3498 I1473 am called in question2919 by5259 you5216 this day.4594
And1161 when Felix5344 heard191 these things,5023 having more perfect knowledge1492 197 of4012 that way,3598 he deferred306 them,846 and said,2036 When3752 Lysias3079 the3588 chief captain5506 shall come down,2597 I will know the uttmost1231 of your matter.2596 5209
And5037 he commanded1299 a centurion1543 to keep5083 Paul,3972 and5037 to let him have2192 liberty,425 and2532 that he should forbid2967 none3367 of his846 acquaintance2398 to minister5256 or2228 come unto4334 him.846
And1161 after3326 certain5100 days,2250 when Felix5344 came3854 with4862 his848 wife1135 Drusilla,1409 which was5607 a Jewess,2453 he sent for3343 Paul,3972 and2532 heard191 him846 concerning4012 the3588 faith4102 in1519 Christ.5547
And1161 as he846 reasoned1256 of4012 righteousness,1343 2532 temperance,1466 and2532 judgment2917 to come,1510 Felix5344 trembled,1096 1719 and answered,611 Go thy way4198 for this time;3568 2192 when1161 I have3335 a convenient season,2540 I will call for3333 thee.4571
He1161 hoped1679 also2532 that3754 money5536 should have been given1325 him846 of5259 Paul,3972 that3704 he might loose3089 him:846 wherefore1352 he2532 sent for3343 him846 the more often,4437 and communed3656 with him.846
But1161 after two years4137 1333 Porcius4201 Festus5347 came into Felix' room:2983 1240 5344 and5037 Felix,5344 willing2309 to show2698 the3588 Jews2453 a pleasure,5485 left2641 Paul3972 bound.1210
