2 Thus3541 said559 the LORD;3068 Behold,2009 waters4325 rise5927 up out of the north,6828 and shall be an overflowing7857 flood,5158 and shall overflow7857 the land,776 and all4393 that is therein;4393 the city,5892 and them that dwell3427 therein: then the men120 shall cry,2199 and all3605 the inhabitants3427 of the land776 shall howl.3213

3 At the noise6963 of the stamping8161 of the hoofs6541 of his strong47 horses,5483 at the rushing7494 of his chariots,7393 and at the rumbling1995 of his wheels,1534 the fathers1 shall not look6437 back3437 to their children1121 for feebleness7510 of hands;3027

4 Because5921 of the day3117 that comes935 to spoil7703 all3605 the Philistines,6430 and to cut3772 off from Tyrus6865 and Zidon6721 every3605 helper5826 that remains:8300 for the LORD3068 will spoil7703 the Philistines,6430 the remnant7611 of the country339 of Caphtor.3731

6 O you sword2719 of the LORD,3068 how5704 long5704 will it be ere3808 you be quiet?8252 put622 up yourself into413 your scabbard,8593 rest,7280 and be still.1826

7 How349 can it be quiet,8252 seeing the LORD3068 has given it a charge6680 against413 Ashkelon,831 and against413 the sea3220 shore?2348 there8033 has he appointed3259 it.

1 法老攻擊迦薩之先，有耶和華攻擊［against］非利士人的話臨到先知耶利米。

2 耶和華如此說：看哪［Behold］，有諸水［waters］從北方發起，必為［shall be］漲溢的洪水［flood］，要漲過遍地和其中所有的，並城和其中所住的；那時［then］人必呼喊，境內的居民都必哀號。

3 聽見敵人壯馬蹄跳的響聲和戰車隆隆、車輪轟轟；為父的手就發軟，必［shall］不回頭看顧兒女，

4 因為日子將到，要毀滅一切非利士人，又［and］剪除幫助推羅、西頓所剩下的人；原來耶和華必毀滅非利士人，就是迦斐託地［country］餘剩的人。

5 迦薩成了光禿；亞實基倫與谷中所剩的都被剪滅［Ashkelon is cut off with the remnant of their valley］；你用刀劃身，要到幾時呢？

6 耶和華的刀劍哪，你到幾時才止息呢？你要入鞘，安靖不動。

7 耶和華既囑咐［charge］它［it］攻擊亞實基倫和海邊之地，它焉能止息呢［How can it be quiet］？他已經派定它在那裏了［there hath he appointed it］。
