1 And when Balaam1109 saw7200 that3588 it pleased2895 5869 the LORD3068 to bless1288 853 Israel,3478 he went1980 not,3808 as at other times,6471 6471 to seek7125 for enchantments,5173 but he set7896 his face6440 toward413 the wilderness.4057

2 And Balaam1109 lifted up5375 853 his eyes,5869 and he saw7200 853 Israel3478 abiding7931 in his tents according to their tribes;7626 and the spirit7307 of God430 came1961 upon5921 him.

3 And he took up5375 his parable,4912 and said,559 Balaam1109 the son1121 of Beor1160 hath said,5002 and the man1397 whose eyes5869 are open8365 hath said: 5002

4 He hath said,5002 which heard8085 the words561 of God,410 which834 saw2372 the vision4236 of the Almighty,7706 falling5307 into a trance, but having his eyes5869 open: 1540

5 How4100 goodly2895 are thy tents,168 O Jacob,3290 and thy tabernacles,4908 O Israel!3478

6 As the valleys5158 are they spread forth,5186 as gardens1593 by5921 the river's5104 side, as the trees of lign aloes174 which the LORD3068 hath planted,5193 and as cedar trees730 beside5921 the waters.4325

7 He shall pour5140 the water4325 out of his buckets,4480 1805 and his seed2233 shall be in many7227 waters,4325 and his king4428 shall be higher7311 than Agag,4480 90 and his kingdom4438 shall be exalted.5375

8 God410 brought him forth3318 out of Egypt;4480 4714 he hath as it were the strength8443 of a unicorn:7214 he shall eat up398 the nations1471 his enemies,6862 and shall break1633 their bones,6106 and pierce them through4272 with his arrows.2671

10 And Balak's1111 anger639 was kindled2734 against413 Balaam,1109 and he smote his hands together:5606 853 3709 and Balak1111 said559 unto413 Balaam,1109 I called7121 thee to curse6895 mine enemies,341 and, behold,2009 thou hast altogether blessed1288 1288 them these2088 three7969 times.6471

11 Therefore now6258 flee1272 thou to413 thy place:4725 I thought559 to promote thee unto great honor;3513 3513 but, lo,2009 the LORD3068 hath kept thee back4513 from honor.4480 3519

12 And Balaam1109 said559 unto413 Balak,1111 Spoke1696 I not3808 also1571 to413 thy messengers4397 which834 thou sentest7971 unto413 me, saying,559

14 And now,6258 behold,2009 I go1980 unto my people:5971 come1980 therefore, and I will advertise3289 thee what834 this2088 people5971 shall do6213 to thy people5971 in the latter319 days.3117

15 And he took up5375 his parable,4912 and said,559 Balaam1109 the son1121 of Beor1160 hath said,5002 and the man1397 whose eyes5869 are open8365 hath said: 5002

16 He hath said,5002 which heard8085 the words561 of God,410 and knew3045 the knowledge1847 of the most High,5945 which saw2372 the vision4236 of the Almighty,7706 falling5307 into a trance, but having his eyes5869 open: 1540

17 I shall see7200 him, but not3808 now:6258 I shall behold7789 him, but not3808 nigh:7138 there shall come1869 a Star3556 out of Jacob,4480 3290 and a Scepter7626 shall rise6965 out of Israel,4480 3478 and shall smite4272 the corners6285 of Moab,4124 and destroy4272 all3605 the children1121 of Sheth.8352

18 And Edom123 shall be1961 a possession,3424 Seir8165 also shall be1961 a possession3424 for his enemies;341 and Israel3478 shall do6213 valiantly.2428

19 Out of Jacob4480 3290 shall come he that shall have dominion,7287 and shall destroy6 him that remaineth8300 of the city.4480 5892

20 And when he looked on7200 853 Amalek,6002 he took up5375 his parable,4912 and said,559 Amalek6002 was the first7225 of the nations;1471 but his latter end319 shall be that he perish8 forever.5703

Chapter 24

1 AND when Balaam saw that it pleased the LORD to bless Israel, he did not go, as at other times, to seek divination; but set his face toward the wilderness.

2 And Balaam lifted up his eyes, and he saw Israel encamping, tribe by tribe; and the spirit of God came upon him.

3 And he took up his parable, and said, Balaam the son of Beor has said, and the man whose eyes are open has said;

4 He has said, who heard the word of God, who saw the vision of God, falling into a trance but having his eyes open:

5 How beautiful are your tents, O Jacob, and your tabernacles, O Israel!

6 Like the valleys that flow, like gardens by the river's side, like the tabernacle which the LORD has pitched, and like cedar trees beside the waters.

7 A man shall rise up from among his sons, and his offspring shall dwell by many waters; he shall be greater than Agag, and his kingdom shall be exalted.

8 The God who brought them forth out of Egypt with his might and excellency, he shall devour the nations that are their enemies, and shall break their bones in pieces, and cut off their loins.

9 He couched, he lay down as a lion, and as a young lion; who shall rouse him up? Blessed are they who bless you, and cursed are they who curse you.

10 And Balak's anger was kindled against Balaam, and he struck his hands together; and Balak said to Balaam, I called you to curse my enemies, and, behold, you have surely blessed them these three times.

11 Therefore, now get you out and go to your own country; for I had said, I will surely honor you but, lo, the LORD has deprived you of my honors.

12 And Balaam answered and said to Balak, Did I not say to your messengers whom you sent to me,

13 If Balak would give me his house full of silver and gold, I would not transgress the commandment of the LORD to do either good or bad of my own mind; but what the LORD says, that will I speak.

14 And now, behold. I am going to my land; come, therefore, and I will give you counsel what this people shall do to your people in the latter days.

15 And he took up his parable and said, Balaam the son of Beor has said, and the man whose eyes are open has said;

16 He has said, who heard the words of God and knew the knowledge of the Most High, who saw the vision of God, falling into a trance but having his eyes open;

17 I have seen him, but not clearly enough; I beheld him, but he was not nigh; there shall come a Star out of Jacob, and a Prince shall rise out of Israel, and shall destroy the mighty men of Moab and subdue all the children of Sheth.

18 And Edom shall be his possession; Seir, also the possession of his enemies, shall be his; and Israel shall gain strength.

19 Out of Jacob shall come he that shall have dominion, and shall destroy him who has survived out of the city.

20 And when he looked on Amalek, he took up his parable and said, Amalek is the chief of the nations; but in the end he shall perish for ever.

21 And he looked on the Kenites and took up his parable and said, Strong is your dwelling place, and your nest is set in a rock.

22 Nevertheless the Kenite shall be wasted until Assyria shall carry you away captive.

23 And he took up his parable and said, Alas, who shall live when God does this!

24 And legions shall come from the land of China, and shall conquer Assyria, and shall subdue the Hebrews, and they also shall perish for ever.

25 Then Balaam rose up and returned to his country; and Balak also went his way.
