第37章

1 雅各居迦南、卽父所旅之地、

2 其畧如左、約瑟年十有七、偕兄牧羊、少時、與庶母辟拉悉帕所出者爲侶、以其過告父。

3 以色列之生約瑟也、年已邁矣、故愛之過於諸子、爲製彩衣。

4 諸兄見父愛約瑟過於己、故憾之、不以善言相加。〇

5 約瑟有夢、述於諸兄、由此諸兄銜憾益深。

6 約瑟曰、我所夢者、請聽之。

7 我儕於田束禾、我所束者、起而立、爾所束者、環而拜。

8 諸兄曰、爾果將統轄我乎、抑治理我乎、故因其夢與言而益憾。

9 約瑟復夢、告諸兄曰、我夢得其二矣、有日月十一星皆拜我。

10 約瑟以此夢告父兄時、父叱之曰、爾所夢者何歟、我與汝母汝兄、果將俯伏爾前乎。

11 父誌其事、兄嫉約瑟。〇

12 諸兄往示劍、牧父羣畜。

13 以色列語約瑟曰、來、爾兄牧於示劍、吾將遣爾。曰、我在此。

14 曰、往觀諸兄、及牲畜、可皆無恙乎、爾返告我。遂遣之、自希伯崙谷至示劍。〇

15 躑躅田間、或遇之、曰、爾何求耶。

16 曰、求我兄、彼牧羊何所、請告我。

17 曰、已去此矣、我聞其言、將往多丹。約瑟追之果在多丹。

18 未至、諸兄遙見、共謀殺之。

19 相語曰、作夢者來矣。

20 莫若殺之、棄於井、流言爲惡獸所食、後觀其夢果驗否。

21 流便聞之、欲救約瑟、曰、莫傷其命。

22 流便欲援之歸父、故曰、勿流其血、勿害其身、曠野有井、投之於中可也。〇

23 約瑟至、諸兄褫其彩衣、

24 投諸眢井、

25 遂坐食餅、遙見以實馬利人、成隊以至、驅羣駝負香料乳香沒藥、自基列來、欲往埃及。

26 猶大謂諸兄曰、殺弟而匿其血、何益之有、此乃我手足之親、毋戕其生。

27 莫若鬻與以實馬利人。兄弟允之。

28 以實馬利人素居米田、爲賈於外、將經其處、諸兄乃援約瑟出井、鬻之於賈、獲金二十。以實馬利人挈約瑟往埃及。〇

29 後流便至井、窺約瑟不在、遂裂己衣、

30 返見諸弟曰、童子不在、我將何歸。

31 諸昆弟宰山羊之羔、濡約瑟衣於血、

32 遣人攜衣歸父曰、我儕得此、試觀果爾子之衣否。

33 雅各視之曰、誠吾子之衣也、是必爲惡獸所食、肢體斷傷無疑矣。

34 雅各遂裂己衣、衣麻慘傷、幾歷歲月。

35 子女羣來相勸、父不受慰、曰、我必悲哀、至於幽冥、就子乃已、父之痛子如此。

Chapter 37

1 And Jacob3290 dwelled3427 in the land776 wherein his father1 was a stranger,4033 in the land776 of Canaan.3667

2 These428 are the generations8435 of Jacob.3290 Joseph,3130 being seventeen7651 6240 years8141 old,1121 was feeding7462 the flock6629 with his brothers;251 and the lad5288 was with the sons1121 of Bilhah,1090 and with the sons1121 of Zilpah,2153 his father's1 wives:802 and Joseph3130 brought935 to his father1 their evil7451 report.1681

3 Now Israel3478 loved157 Joseph3130 more than all3605 his children,1121 because3588 he was the son1121 of his old2208 age: and he made6213 him a coat3801 of many colors.6446

4 And when his brothers251 saw7200 that their father1 loved157 him more than all3605 his brothers,251 they hated8130 him, and could3201 not speak1696 peaceably7965 to him.

5 And Joseph3130 dreamed2492 a dream,2472 and he told5046 it his brothers:251 and they hated8130 him yet5750 the more.3254

6 And he said559 to them, Hear,8085 I pray4994 you, this2088 dream2472 which834 I have dreamed:2492

7 For, behold,2009 we were binding481 sheaves485 in the field,7704 and, see,2009 my sheaf485 arose,6965 and also stood5324 upright; and, behold,2009 your sheaves485 stood round5437 about, and made obeisance7812 to my sheaf.485

8 And his brothers251 said559 to him, Shall you indeed reign4427 over5921 us? or shall you indeed have dominion4910 over us? And they hated8130 him yet5750 the more3254 for his dreams,2472 and for his words.1697

9 And he dreamed2492 yet5750 another312 dream,2472 and told5608 it his brothers,251 and said,559 Behold,2009 I have dreamed2492 a dream2472 more;5750 and, behold,2009 the sun8121 and the moon3394 and the eleven259 6240 stars3556 made obeisance7812 to me.

10 And he told5608 it to his father,1 and to his brothers:251 and his father1 rebuked1605 him, and said559 to him, What4100 is this2088 dream2472 that you have dreamed?2492 Shall I and your mother517 and your brothers251 indeed come935 to bow7812 down7812 ourselves to you to the earth?776

11 And his brothers251 envied7065 him; but his father1 observed8104 the saying.1697

12 And his brothers251 went3212 to feed7462 their father's1 flock6629 in Shechem.7927

13 And Israel3478 said559 to Joseph,3130 Do not your brothers251 feed7462 the flock in Shechem?7927 come,3212 and I will send7971 you to them. And he said559 to him, Here2009 am I.

14 And he said559 to him, Go,3212 I pray4994 you, see7200 whether it be well7965 with your brothers,251 and well7965 with the flocks;6629 and bring7725 me word1697 again.7725 So he sent7971 him out of the vale6010 of Hebron,2275 and he came935 to Shechem.7927

15 And a certain man376 found4672 him, and, behold,2009 he was wandering8582 in the field:7704 and the man376 asked7592 him, saying,559 What4100 seek1245 you?

16 And he said,559 I seek1245 my brothers:251 tell5046 me, I pray4994 you, where375 they feed7462 their flocks.

17 And the man376 said,559 They are departed5265 hence;2088 for I heard8085 them say,559 Let us go3212 to Dothan.1886 And Joseph3130 went3212 after310 his brothers,251 and found4672 them in Dothan.1886

18 And when they saw7200 him afar7350 off, even before2962 he came7126 near7126 to them, they conspired5230 against834 him to slay4191 him.

19 And they said559 one376 to another,251 Behold,2009 this1976 dreamer1167 2472 comes.935

20 Come3212 now6258 therefore, and let us slay2026 him, and cast7993 him into some259 pit,953 and we will say,559 Some evil7451 beast2416 has devoured398 him: and we shall see7200 what4100 will become1961 of his dreams.2472

21 And Reuben7205 heard8085 it, and he delivered5337 him out of their hands;3027 and said,559 Let us not kill5221 him.

22 And Reuben7205 said559 to them, Shed8210 no3808 blood,1818 but cast7993 him into413 this2088 pit953 that is in the wilderness,4057 and lay7971 no3808 hand3027 on him; that he might rid5337 him out of their hands,3027 to deliver7725 him to his father1 again.7725

23 And it came1961 to pass, when834 Joseph3130 was come935 to his brothers,251 that they stripped6584 Joseph3130 out of his coat,3801 his coat3801 of many colors6446 that was on5921 him;

24 And they took3947 him, and cast7993 him into a pit:953 and the pit953 was empty,7386 there was no3808 water4325 in it.

25 And they sat3427 down to eat398 bread:3899 and they lifted5375 up their eyes5869 and looked,7200 and, behold,2009 a company736 of Ishmeelites3459 came935 from Gilead1568 with their camels1581 bearing5375 spices5219 and balm6875 and myrrh,3910 going1980 to carry3381 it down3381 to Egypt.4714

26 And Judah3063 said559 to his brothers,251 What4100 profit1215 is it if3588 we slay2026 our brother,251 and conceal3680 his blood?1818

27 Come,3212 and let us sell4376 him to the Ishmeelites,3459 and let not our hand3027 be on him; for he is our brother251 and our flesh.1320 And his brothers251 were content.8085

28 Then there passed5674 by Midianites4084 merchants;5503 and they drew4900 and lifted5927 up Joseph3130 out of the pit,953 and sold4376 Joseph3130 to the Ishmeelites3459 for twenty6242 pieces of silver:3701 and they brought935 Joseph3130 into Egypt.4714

29 And Reuben7205 returned7725 to the pit;953 and, behold,2009 Joseph3130 was not in the pit;953 and he rent7167 his clothes.899

30 And he returned7725 to his brothers,251 and said,559 The child3206 is not; and I, where575 shall I go?935

31 And they took3947 Joseph's3130 coat,3801 and killed7819 a kid8163 of the goats,5795 and dipped2881 the coat3801 in the blood;1818

32 And they sent7971 the coat3801 of many colors,6446 and they brought935 it to their father;1 and said,559 This2063 have we found:4672 know5234 now4994 whether it be your son's1121 coat3801 or no.3808

33 And he knew5234 it, and said,559 It is my son's1121 coat;3801 an evil7451 beast2416 has devoured398 him; Joseph3130 is without2963 doubt rent2963 in pieces.

34 And Jacob3290 rent7167 his clothes,8071 and put7760 sackcloth8242 on his loins,4975 and mourned56 for his son1121 many7227 days.3117

35 And all3605 his sons1121 and all3605 his daughters1323 rose6965 up to comfort5162 him; but he refused3985 to be comforted;5162 and he said,559 For I will go3381 down3381 into the grave7585 to my son1121 mourning.57 Thus his father1 wept1058 for him.

14 And he said559 to him, Go,3212 I pray4994 you, see7200 whether it be well7965 with your brothers,251 and well7965 with the flocks;6629 and bring7725 me word1697 again.7725 So he sent7971 him out of the vale6010 of Hebron,2275 and he came935 to Shechem.7927

15 躑躅田間、或遇之、曰、爾何求耶。

15 And a certain man376 found4672 him, and, behold,2009 he was wandering8582 in the field:7704 and the man376 asked7592 him, saying,559 What4100 seek1245 you?

16 曰、求我兄、彼牧羊何所、請告我。

16 And he said,559 I seek1245 my brothers:251 tell5046 me, I pray4994 you, where375 they feed7462 their flocks.

17 曰、已去此矣、我聞其言、將往多丹。約瑟追之果在多丹。

17 And the man376 said,559 They are departed5265 hence;2088 for I heard8085 them say,559 Let us go3212 to Dothan.1886 And Joseph3130 went3212 after310 his brothers,251 and found4672 them in Dothan.1886

18 未至、諸兄遙見、共謀殺之。

18 And when they saw7200 him afar7350 off, even before2962 he came7126 near7126 to them, they conspired5230 against834 him to slay4191 him.

19 相語曰、作夢者來矣。

19 And they said559 one376 to another,251 Behold,2009 this1976 dreamer1167 2472 comes.935

20 莫若殺之、棄於井、流言爲惡獸所食、後觀其夢果驗否。

20 Come3212 now6258 therefore, and let us slay2026 him, and cast7993 him into some259 pit,953 and we will say,559 Some evil7451 beast2416 has devoured398 him: and we shall see7200 what4100 will become1961 of his dreams.2472

21 流便聞之、欲救約瑟、曰、莫傷其命。

22 流便欲援之歸父、故曰、勿流其血、勿害其身、曠野有井、投之於中可也。〇

31 諸昆弟宰山羊之羔、濡約瑟衣於血、

31 And they took3947 Joseph's3130 coat,3801 and killed7819 a kid8163 of the goats,5795 and dipped2881 the coat3801 in the blood;1818
