Kapitel 12

1 Um dieselbige Zeit2596 legte1911 der1565 König935 Herodes die Hände5495 an etliche5100 von575 der Gemeinde1577, sie1161 zu peinigen2559.

2 Er tötete337 aber1161 Jakobus2385, den Bruder80 des Johannes2491, mit dem Schwert3162.

3 Und2532 da er2076 sah1492, daß3754 es den Juden2453 gefiel, fuhr er fort4369 und2532 fing4815 Petrus4074 auch. Es waren2258 aber1161 eben die Tage2250 der süßen Brote106.

4 Da er846 ihn nun griff4084, legte5087 er846 ihn ins Gefängnis5438 und2532 überantwortete3860 ihn vier5064 Vierteilen Kriegsknechten4757, ihn zu3326 bewahren5442, und gedachte1014, ihn nach1519 Ostern3957 dem Volk2992 vorzustellen321.

5 Und1161 Petrus ward5083 zwar3303 im Gefängnis5438 gehalten; aber3767 die846 Gemeinde5259 betete4335 ohne Aufhören1618 für5228 ihn4314 zu1722 GOtt2316.

6 Und1161 da3753 ihn846 Herodes wollte3195 vorstellen4254, in derselbigen Nacht3571 schlief2837 Petrus4074 zwischen3342 zwei1417 Kriegsknechten4757, gebunden1210 mit zwo Ketten254, und die Hüter5441 vor4254 der1565 Tür2374 hüteten5083 das Gefängnis5438.

7 Und2532 siehe2400, der Engel32 des846 HErrn2962 kam daher2186, und2532 ein Licht5457 schien2989 in1722 dem Gemach3612; und1161 schlug3960 Petrus4074 an die Seite4125 und2532 weckte ihn auf1453 und sprach3004: Stehe450 behende auf1453! Und die Ketten254 fielen1601 ihm von1537 seinen846 Händen5495.

8 Und5037 der Engel32 sprach2036 zu4314 ihm: Gürte dich4024 und2532 tu5265 deine4675 Schuhe4547 an! Und1161 er846 tat4160 also3779. Und2532 er846 sprach3004 zu ihm: Wirf4016 deinen4675 Mantel2440 um dich und2532 folge mir3427 nach190!

9 Und2532 er846 ging hinaus1831 und2532 folgte190 ihm und1161 wußte nicht3756, daß3754 ihm wahrhaftig227 solches1096 geschähe durch1223 den3588 Engel32, sondern es deuchte1380 ihn, er sähe1492 ein Gesicht991.

10 Sie5342 gingen1330 aber1161 durch die erste4413 und2532 andere1208 Hut5438 und2532 kamen1831 zu1519 der3748 eisernen4603 Tür4439, welche zur Stadt4172 führet; die tat sich455 ihnen846 von575 selber844 auf1909. Und2532 traten hinaus und gingen2064 hin4281 eine3391 Gasse4505 lang; und also bald2112 schied868 der Engel32 von ihm846.

11 Und2532 da Petrus4074 zu1722 sich1438 selber kam1096, sprach2036 er: Nun3568 weiß1492 ich wahrhaftig230, daß3754 der HErr2962 seinen Engel32 gesandt hat1821 und2532 mich3165 errettet aus1807 der Hand5495 des Herodes und2532 von1537 allem3956 Warten4329 des jüdischen2453 Volks2992.

12 Und5037 als er sich besann4894, kam2064 er vor das1909 Haus3614 Marias3137, der Mutter3384 des Johannes2491, der mit dem Zunamen1941 Markus3138 hieß, da3757 viele2425 beieinander4867 waren2258 und beteten4336.

13 Als aber1161 Petrus4074 an2925 die Tür2374 klopfete des Tores4440, trat hervor eine Magd3814, zu4334 horchen5219, mit Namen3686 Rhode4498.

14 Und2532 als sie2476 des Petrus4074 Stimme5456 erkannte1921, tat sie das Tor4440 nicht3756 auf455 vor4253 Freuden5479, lief1532 aber1161 hinein und verkündigte518 es ihnen, Petrus4074 stünde vor dem575 Tor4440.

15 Sie1161 aber1161 sprachen2036 zu4314 ihr846: Du bist unsinnig3105. Sie846 aber1161 bestand darauf1340, es wäre2076 also3779. Sie sprachen3004: Es ist2192 sein Engel32.

16 Petrus4074 aber1161 klopfete weiter1961 an2925. Da sie aber1161 auftaten, sahen1492 sie ihn und entsetzten1839 sich455.

17 Er846 aber1161 winkete ihnen846 mit der Hand5495, zu1519 schweigen4601, und1161 erzählte1334 ihnen846, wie4459 ihn der HErr2962 hätte aus1806 dem Gefängnis5438 geführet, und2532 sprach2036: Verkündiget518 dies5023 Jakobus2385 und2532 den Brüdern80. Und ging4198 hinaus1831 und zog an1537 einen andern2087 Ort5117.

18 Da es aber1161 Tag2250 ward1096, ward1096 nicht3756 eine kleine3641 Bekümmernis5017 unter den Kriegsknechten4757, wie es doch686 mit1722 Petrus4074 gegangen wäre2258.

19 Herodes aber1161, da er846 ihn520 forderte1934 und2532 nicht3361 fand2147, ließ350 er die Hüter5441 rechtfertigen und2532 hieß sie2753 wegführen und zog2718 von575 Judäa2449 hinab gen1519 Cäsarea2542 und hielt allda sein Wesen1304.

20 Denn er2258 gedachte, wider3661 die von575 Tyrus5183 und2532 Sidon4606 zu4314 kriegen. Sie3982 aber1161 kamen3918 einmütiglich zu ihm und1161 überredeten3982 des846 Königs935 Kämmerer, Blastus986, und2532 baten154 um1223 Frieden1515, darum daß ihre Lande sich nähren mußten5142 von des846 Königs937 Land5561.

21 Aber1161 auf1909 einen bestimmten5002 Tag2250 tat Herodes das königliche937 Kleid2066 an1746, setzte sich2523 auf den846 Richterstuhl und2532 tat eine Rede1215 zu4314 ihnen846.

22 Das Volk1218 aber1161 rief zu2019: Das ist Gottes2316 Stimme5456 und2532 nicht3756 eines Menschen444!

23 Alsbald3916 schlug3960 ihn der Engel32 des HErrn2962, darum daß er846 die3739 Ehre1391 nicht3756 GOtt2316 gab1325, und1161 ward1096 gefressen von den Würmern4662 und2532 gab den Geist auf1634.

24 Das Wort3056 Gottes2316 aber1161 wuchs837 und2532 mehrete sich4129.

25 Barnabas921 aber1161 und2532 Saulus4569 kamen wieder5290 gen Jerusalem2419 und2532 überantworteten die Handreichung1248 und nahmen mit sich4838 Johannes2491 mit dem1537 Zunamen1941 Markus3138.

Chapter 12

1 NOW at that very time Herod the king surnamed A-grip'pa seized some of the people of the church to oppress them.

2 And he killed James the brother of John with the sword.

3 And when he saw that this pleased the Jews, he proceeded to arrest Simon Peter also. This happened during the days of unleavened bread.

4 So he seized him and put him in prison and delivered him to the care of sixteen soldiers to keep him, so that he might deliver him to the Jewish people after the passover.

5 And while Simon Peter was kept in the prison, continual prayer was offered for him to God by the church.

6 And on the very night before the morning that he was to be delivered up, while Simon Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains, and others were guarding the doors of the prison,

7 The angel of the LORD stood over him, and a light shone in all the prison: and the angel touched him on the side and awoke him, and said to him, Rise up quickly. And the chains fell off from his hands.

8 And the angel said to him, Bind on your girdle and put on your sandals. And so he did. And again he said to him, Put on your robe and follow me.

9 And he went out, and followed the angel, not knowing that what was done by the angel was true, but thought he saw a vision.

10 When they had passed the first and the second guard, they came to the iron gate and it opened to them of its own accord; and when they had gone out, and had passed one street, the angel departed from him.

11 And when Simon Peter came to himself he said, Now I surely know, that the LORD has sent his angel and has delivered me out of the hand of Herod, the king, and from all that the Jews were conspiring against me.

12 And when he understood, he went to the house of Mary the mother of John, whose surname was Mark; because many brethren were gathered there praying.

13 When he knocked at the door of the courtyard, a little girl named Rhoda came out to answer.

14 And when she recognized Simon's voice, because of her joy she did not open the door to him, but ran back and told, Behold Simon Peter stands at the gate of the courtyard.

15 They said to her, You are confused. But she argued that it was so. Then said they, Perhaps it is his angel.

16 But Simon Peter continued knocking at the door; and they went out, and saw him, and were astonished.

17 But he motioned to them with his hand to keep quiet; then he entered and related to them how the LORD had brought him out of the prison. And he said, Tell these things to James, and to our brethren. And he went out, and departed for another place.

18 Now when it was morning, there was great tumult among the soldiers as to what had become of Simon Peter.

19 When Herod had sought him and could not find him, he sentenced the guards and commanded that they should be put to death. And Simon Peter left Ju-dµ'a and stayed at Cµs-a-re'a.

20 Herod was angry with the people of Tyre and Sidon, but they assembled together and came to him, and they appealed to Blas'tus, the king's chamberlain, and asked him that they might have peace, because their country was dependent upon the kingdom of Herod for food supplies.

21 Upon the set day Herod, arrayed in royal apparel, sat upon the throne and addressed the assembly.

22 And all the people shouted, saying, This sounds like the voice of God speaking and not that of a man.

23 And because he did not give the glory to God, in that very hour an angel of the LORD smote him, and he was eaten by disease and died.

24 But the gospel of God continued to be preached and to reach many.

25 Bar'na-bas and Saul, after they had fulfilled their ministry, returned from Jerusalem to An'ti-och, and took with them John whose surname was Mark.
