3 Auf ihren Gassen2351 gehen sie mit Säcken8242 umgürtet2296; auf ihren Dächern1406 und Straßen7339 heulen3213 sie alle und gehen weinend1065 herab3381.

4 Hesbon2809 und6963 Eleale500 schreien2199, daß man‘s zu8085 Jahza3096 höret. Darum7321 wehklagen die Gerüsteten2502 in Moab4124; denn es gehet ihrer See LE5315 übel3415.

5 Mein Herz3820 schreiet zu Moab4124; ihre Flüchtigen1280 fliehen von der dreijährigen Kuh5697, bis gen Zoar6820; denn sie2199 gehen gen Luhith3872 hinan4608 und weinen1065; und auf5927 dem Wege1870 zu Horonaim2773 zu erhebt sich5782 ein Jammergeschrei2201.

6 Denn die Wasser4325 zu Nimrim5249 versiegen4923, daß das Heu2682 verdorret, und das Gras1877 verwelket, und wächset kein grün3418 Kraut.

7 Denn das Gut3502, das sie gesammelt, und6213 das Volk, das sie gerüstet haben, führet5375 man über6486 den Weidenbach5158.

8 Geschrei2201 gehet um5362 in den Grenzen1366 Moabs4124; sie heulen3215 bis gen Eglaim97 und heulen3215 bei dem Born Elim879.

9 Denn die Wasser4325 zu Dimon1775 sind4390 voll Bluts1818. Dazu will ich über Dimon1775 noch3254 mehr kommen lassen7896, beide über die erhalten sind6413 in Moab4124 des Löwen738, und über die Übrigen7611 im Lande127.

1 THE prophecy concerning the fall of Moab. Because in the night the city of Moab is plundered and brought to silence; because in the night the defenses of Moab are despoiled and brought to silence;

2 They have gone up to the house of Ribon, to the high places, to weep; Moab shall howl over Nebo and over Medeba; on all their heads shall be baldness, and every beard cut off.

3 In their streets they shall gird themselves with sackcloth; on the housetops and in their streets every one shall howl, weeping vehemently.

4 Heshbon shall cry, and Elealeh; their voice shall be heard as far as Jazoth; therefore the armed soldiers of Moab shall cry out; his soul shall howl for him.

5 My heart shall cry out for Moab; they shall howl as they flee to Zoar; Moab was strong like a three year old heifer; for by the ascent of Luhith they shall go up with weeping; and in the way of Horonaim they shall raise up a cry of destruction.

6 For the waters of Nimrim shall be desolate; for the vegetation is withered away, and the green grass is dried up, there is no green thing.

7 Therefore what was left is gone, and that which they have stored shall they carry away over the brook of willows.

8 For the cry is gone round about the borders of Moab; the howling thereof as far as Eglaim, and the howling thereof to Beer-elim.

9 For the waters of Ribon are full of blood; and I will bring more upon Ribon, and I will plot against those who escape of Moab, and against the remnant of the land.
