Chapter 18

1 At1722 the same1565 time5610 came4334 the disciples3101 to Jesus,2424 saying,3004 Who5101 is the greatest3187 in the kingdom932 of heaven?3772

2 And Jesus2424 called4341 a little3813 child3813 to him, and set2476 him in the middle3319 of them,

3 And said,2036 Truly281 I say3004 to you, Except3362 you be converted,4762 and become1096 as little3813 children,3813 you shall not enter1525 into1519 the kingdom932 of heaven.3772

4 Whoever3748 therefore3767 shall humble5013 himself1438 as this5124 little3813 child,3813 the same3778 is greatest3187 in the kingdom932 of heaven.3772

5 And whoever3739 302 shall receive1209 one1520 such5108 little3813 child3813 in my name3686 receives1209 me.

6 But whoever3739 302 shall offend4624 one1520 of these5130 little3398 ones which3588 believe4100 in me, it were better4851 for him that a millstone3458 3684 were hanged2910 about1909 his neck,5137 and that he were drowned2670 in the depth3989 of the sea.2281

7 Woe3759 to the world2889 because575 of offenses!4625 for it must318 needs318 be that offenses4625 come;2064 but woe3759 to that man444 by whom3739 the offense4625 comes!2064

8 Why1161 if1487 your hand5495 or2228 your foot4228 offend4624 you, cut1581 them off,1581 and cast906 them from you: it is better2570 for you to enter1525 into1519 life2222 halt5560 or2228 maimed,2948 rather2228 than2228 having2192 two1417 hands5495 or2228 two1417 feet4228 to be cast906 into1519 everlasting166 fire.4442

9 And if1487 your4675 eye3788 offend4624 you, pluck1807 it out, and cast906 it from you: it is better2570 for you to enter1525 into1519 life2222 with one3442 eye,3442 rather2228 than2228 having2192 two1417 eyes3788 to be cast906 into1519 hell1067 fire.4442

10 Take heed3708 that you despise2706 not one1520 of these5130 little3398 ones; for I say3004 to you, That in heaven3772 their angels32 do always1223 3956 behold991 the face4383 of my Father3962 which3588 is in heaven.3772

11 For the Son5207 of man444 is come2064 to save4982 that which3588 was lost.622

12 How5101 think1380 you? if1437 a man444 have1096 an hundred1540 sheep,4263 and one1520 of them be gone4105 astray,4105 does he not leave863 the ninety1768 and nine,1768 and goes4198 into1909 the mountains,3735 and seeks2212 that which3588 is gone astray?4105

13 And if1437 so1437 be that he find2147 it, truly281 I say3004 to you, he rejoices5463 more3123 of that sheep, than2228 of the ninety1768 and nine1768 which3588 went4105 not astray.4105

14 Even so3779 it is not the will2307 of your5216 Father3962 which3588 is in heaven,3772 that one1520 of these5130 little3398 ones should perish.622

15 Moreover1161 if1437 your brother80 shall trespass264 against1519 you, go5217 and tell1650 him his fault1651 between3342 you and him alone:3441 if1437 he shall hear191 you, you have gained2770 your brother.80

16 But if1437 he will not hear191 you, then take3880 with you one1520 or2228 two1417 more,2089 that in the mouth4750 of two1417 or2228 three5140 witnesses3144 every3956 word4487 may be established.2476

17 And if1437 he shall neglect3878 to hear3878 them, tell2036 it to the church:1577 but if1437 he neglect3878 to hear3878 the church,1577 let him be to you as an heathen1482 man and a publican.5057

18 Truly281 I say3004 to you, Whatever3745 1437 you shall bind1210 on1909 earth1093 shall be bound1210 in heaven:3772 and whatever3745 1437 you shall loose3089 on1909 earth1093 shall be loosed3089 in heaven.3772

19 Again3825 I say3004 to you, That if1437 two1417 of you shall agree4856 on1909 earth1093 as touching4012 any3956 thing4229 that they shall ask,154 it shall be done1096 for them of my Father3962 which3588 is in heaven.3772

20 For where3757 two1417 or2228 three5140 are gathered4863 together4863 in my name,3686 there1563 am1510 I in the middle3319 of them.

21 Then5119 came4334 Peter4074 to him, and said,2036 Lord,2962 how4212 oft4212 shall my brother80 sin264 against1519 me, and I forgive863 him? till2193 seven2034 times?2034

22 Jesus2424 said3004 to him, I say3004 not to you, Until2193 seven2034 times:2034 but, Until2193 seventy1441 times1441 seven.2033

23 Therefore1223 5124 is the kingdom932 of heaven3772 likened3666 to a certain444 king,935 which3739 would2309 take4868 account3056 of his servants.1401

24 And when he had begun756 to reckon,4868 one1520 was brought4374 to him, which owed3781 him ten3463 thousand3463 talents.5007

25 But for as much as he had2192 not to pay,591 his lord2962 commanded2753 him to be sold,4097 and his wife,1135 and children,5043 and all3956 that he had,2192 and payment591 to be made.591

26 The servant1401 therefore3767 fell4098 down, and worshipped4352 him, saying,3004 Lord,2962 have patience3114 with me, and I will pay591 you all.

27 Then1161 the lord2962 of that servant1401 was moved4697 with compassion,4697 and loosed630 him, and forgave863 him the debt.1156

28 But the same1565 servant1401 went1831 out, and found2147 one1520 of his fellow servants,4889 which3739 owed3784 him an hundred1540 pence:1220 and he laid hands2902 on him, and took2902 him by the throat,4155 saying,3004 Pay591 me that you owe.3784

29 And his fellow servant4889 fell4098 down at1519 his feet,4228 and sought3870 him, saying,3004 Have patience3114 with me, and I will pay591 you all.

30 And he would2309 not: but went565 and cast906 him into1519 prison,5438 till2193 he should pay591 the debt.3784

31 So1161 when his fellow servants4889 saw1492 what3588 was done,1096 they were very4970 sorry,3076 and came2064 and told1285 to their lord2962 all3956 that was done.1096

32 Then5119 his lord,2962 after that he had called4341 him, said3004 to him, O you wicked4190 servant,1401 I forgave863 you all3956 that debt,3782 because1893 you desired3870 me:

33 Should not you also2532 have had compassion1653 on your fellow servant,4889 even2532 as I had pity1653 on you?

34 And his lord2962 was wroth,3710 and delivered3860 him to the tormentors,930 till2193 he should pay591 all3956 that was due3784 to him.

35 So3779 likewise2532 shall my heavenly2032 Father3962 do4160 also2532 to you, if1437 you from your5216 hearts2588 forgive863 not every1538 one his brother80 their trespasses.3900

Chapter 18

1 AT that very hour the disciples came up to Jesus and said, Who is greatest in the kingdom of heaven?

2 So Jesus called a little boy, and made him to stand up in the midst of them,

3 And he said, Truly I say to you, Unless you change and become like little boys, you shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.

4 Whoever therefore will humble himself like this little boy, shall be great in the kingdom of heaven.

5 And he who will welcome one like this little boy, in my name, welcomes me.

6 And whoever misleads one of these little ones who believe in me, it would be better for him that an ass' millstone were hanged on his neck and he were sunk in the depths of the sea.

7 Woe to the world because of offences! Offences are bound to come; but woe to the man by whose hand the offences come!

8 If your hand or your foot offends you, cut it off and throw it away from you; for it is much better for you to go through life lamed or maimed, rather than having two hands or two feet, and fall into the everlasting fire.

9 And if your eye offends you, remove it and throw it away from you; it is better for you to go through life with one eye, rather than having two eyes and fall into the gehenna of fire.

10 See to it that you do not despise one of these little ones; for I say to you, their angels always see the face of my Father in heaven.

11 For the Son of man has come to save what was lost.

12 What do you think? If a man should have a hundred sheep, and one of them is lost, would he not leave the ninety and nine on the mountain, and go in search of the one which is lost?

13 And if he should find it, truly I say to you, he rejoices over it more than over the ninety and nine which were not lost.

14 Even so, your Father in heaven does not want one of these little ones to be lost.

15 Now then, if your brother is at fault with you, go and rebuke him alone; if he listens to you, then you have won your brother.

16 But if he will not listen to you, take one or two with you, because at the mouth of two or three witnesses every word is sustained.

17 And if he will not listen to them, tell the congregation; and if he will not listen to the congregation, then regard him as a publican and a heathen.

18 Truly I say to you, Whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you release on earth will be released in heaven.

19 Again I say to you, that if two of you are worthy on earth, anything that they would ask, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven.

20 For wherever two or three are gathered in my name, I am there among them.

21 Then Peter came up and said to him, My Lord, if my brother is at fault with me, how many times should I forgive him? up to seven times?

22 Jesus said to him, I do not say to you up to seven times, but up to seventy times seven.

23 Therefore the kingdom of heaven is likened to a king who wanted to take an accounting from his servants.

24 And when he began to take the accounting, they brought to him one who owed ten thousand talents.

25 And as he could not pay, his lord commanded him to be sold, together with his wife and children, and all that he had, so that he could pay.

26 The servant then fell down, worshipped him, and said, My lord, have patience with me, and I will pay you everything.

27 Then the master of that servant had pity, so he released him, and cancelled his debt.

28 But that servant went out, and found one of his fellow-servants, who owed him one hundred cents; and he seized him, and tried to choke him, saying to him, Give me what you owe me.

29 So his fellow-servant fell down at his feet, and begged him and said, Have patience with me, and I will pay you.

30 But he was not willing; and he went and had him put into prison, until he should pay him what he owed him.

31 When their fellow-servants saw what had happened, they were very sorry, and they came and en_lbp_informed their master of everything that had happened.

32 Then his master called him and said to him, O wicked servant, I cancelled all your debt because you begged me.

33 Was it not right for you to have mercy on your fellow-servant, just as I had mercy on you?

34 So his master was angry, and delivered him to the scourgers, until he should pay everything he owed him.

35 So will my Father in heaven do to you, if you do not forgive each man his brother's fault from your heart.

8 If your hand or your foot offends you, cut it off and throw it away from you; for it is much better for you to go through life lamed or maimed, rather than having two hands or two feet, and fall into the everlasting fire.

9 And if your eye offends you, remove it and throw it away from you; it is better for you to go through life with one eye, rather than having two eyes and fall into the gehenna of fire.

10 Take heed3708 that you despise2706 not one1520 of these5130 little3398 ones; for I say3004 to you, That in heaven3772 their angels32 do always1223 3956 behold991 the face4383 of my Father3962 which3588 is in heaven.3772

10 See to it that you do not despise one of these little ones; for I say to you, their angels always see the face of my Father in heaven.

11 For the Son5207 of man444 is come2064 to save4982 that which3588 was lost.622

11 For the Son of man has come to save what was lost.

12 What do you think? If a man should have a hundred sheep, and one of them is lost, would he not leave the ninety and nine on the mountain, and go in search of the one which is lost?

13 And if1437 so1437 be that he find2147 it, truly281 I say3004 to you, he rejoices5463 more3123 of that sheep, than2228 of the ninety1768 and nine1768 which3588 went4105 not astray.4105

13 And if he should find it, truly I say to you, he rejoices over it more than over the ninety and nine which were not lost.

14 Even so3779 it is not the will2307 of your5216 Father3962 which3588 is in heaven,3772 that one1520 of these5130 little3398 ones should perish.622

14 Even so, your Father in heaven does not want one of these little ones to be lost.

15 Moreover1161 if1437 your brother80 shall trespass264 against1519 you, go5217 and tell1650 him his fault1651 between3342 you and him alone:3441 if1437 he shall hear191 you, you have gained2770 your brother.80

15 Now then, if your brother is at fault with you, go and rebuke him alone; if he listens to you, then you have won your brother.

16 But if he will not listen to you, take one or two with you, because at the mouth of two or three witnesses every word is sustained.

17 And if1437 he shall neglect3878 to hear3878 them, tell2036 it to the church:1577 but if1437 he neglect3878 to hear3878 the church,1577 let him be to you as an heathen1482 man and a publican.5057

17 And if he will not listen to them, tell the congregation; and if he will not listen to the congregation, then regard him as a publican and a heathen.

18 Truly I say to you, Whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you release on earth will be released in heaven.

19 Again3825 I say3004 to you, That if1437 two1417 of you shall agree4856 on1909 earth1093 as touching4012 any3956 thing4229 that they shall ask,154 it shall be done1096 for them of my Father3962 which3588 is in heaven.3772

19 Again I say to you, that if two of you are worthy on earth, anything that they would ask, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven.

20 For where3757 two1417 or2228 three5140 are gathered4863 together4863 in my name,3686 there1563 am1510 I in the middle3319 of them.

20 For wherever two or three are gathered in my name, I am there among them.

21 Then5119 came4334 Peter4074 to him, and said,2036 Lord,2962 how4212 oft4212 shall my brother80 sin264 against1519 me, and I forgive863 him? till2193 seven2034 times?2034

21 Then Peter came up and said to him, My Lord, if my brother is at fault with me, how many times should I forgive him? up to seven times?

22 Jesus2424 said3004 to him, I say3004 not to you, Until2193 seven2034 times:2034 but, Until2193 seventy1441 times1441 seven.2033

22 Jesus said to him, I do not say to you up to seven times, but up to seventy times seven.

23 Therefore1223 5124 is the kingdom932 of heaven3772 likened3666 to a certain444 king,935 which3739 would2309 take4868 account3056 of his servants.1401

23 Therefore the kingdom of heaven is likened to a king who wanted to take an accounting from his servants.

24 And when he had begun756 to reckon,4868 one1520 was brought4374 to him, which owed3781 him ten3463 thousand3463 talents.5007

24 And when he began to take the accounting, they brought to him one who owed ten thousand talents.

25 But for as much as he had2192 not to pay,591 his lord2962 commanded2753 him to be sold,4097 and his wife,1135 and children,5043 and all3956 that he had,2192 and payment591 to be made.591

25 And as he could not pay, his lord commanded him to be sold, together with his wife and children, and all that he had, so that he could pay.

26 The servant1401 therefore3767 fell4098 down, and worshipped4352 him, saying,3004 Lord,2962 have patience3114 with me, and I will pay591 you all.

26 The servant then fell down, worshipped him, and said, My lord, have patience with me, and I will pay you everything.

27 Then1161 the lord2962 of that servant1401 was moved4697 with compassion,4697 and loosed630 him, and forgave863 him the debt.1156

27 Then the master of that servant had pity, so he released him, and cancelled his debt.

28 But that servant went out, and found one of his fellow-servants, who owed him one hundred cents; and he seized him, and tried to choke him, saying to him, Give me what you owe me.

29 And his fellow servant4889 fell4098 down at1519 his feet,4228 and sought3870 him, saying,3004 Have patience3114 with me, and I will pay591 you all.

29 So his fellow-servant fell down at his feet, and begged him and said, Have patience with me, and I will pay you.

30 And he would2309 not: but went565 and cast906 him into1519 prison,5438 till2193 he should pay591 the debt.3784

30 But he was not willing; and he went and had him put into prison, until he should pay him what he owed him.

31 So1161 when his fellow servants4889 saw1492 what3588 was done,1096 they were very4970 sorry,3076 and came2064 and told1285 to their lord2962 all3956 that was done.1096

31 When their fellow-servants saw what had happened, they were very sorry, and they came and en_lbp_informed their master of everything that had happened.

32 Then5119 his lord,2962 after that he had called4341 him, said3004 to him, O you wicked4190 servant,1401 I forgave863 you all3956 that debt,3782 because1893 you desired3870 me:

32 Then his master called him and said to him, O wicked servant, I cancelled all your debt because you begged me.

33 Should not you also2532 have had compassion1653 on your fellow servant,4889 even2532 as I had pity1653 on you?

33 Was it not right for you to have mercy on your fellow-servant, just as I had mercy on you?

34 And his lord2962 was wroth,3710 and delivered3860 him to the tormentors,930 till2193 he should pay591 all3956 that was due3784 to him.

34 So his master was angry, and delivered him to the scourgers, until he should pay everything he owed him.

35 So3779 likewise2532 shall my heavenly2032 Father3962 do4160 also2532 to you, if1437 you from your5216 hearts2588 forgive863 not every1538 one his brother80 their trespasses.3900

35 So will my Father in heaven do to you, if you do not forgive each man his brother's fault from your heart.
