Psalm 81

1 To the chief5329 Musician5329 upon Gittith,1665 A Psalm of Asaph.623 Sing7442 aloud7442 to God430 our strength:5797 make a joyful noise to the God430 of Jacob.3290

2 Take5375 a psalm,2172 and bring5414 here the tambourine,8596 the pleasant5273 harp3658 with the psaltery.5035

3 Blow8628 up the trumpet7782 in the new2320 moon,2320 in the time appointed,3677 on our solemn2282 feast2282 day.3117

4 For this1931 was a statute2706 for Israel,3478 and a law4941 of the God430 of Jacob.3290

5 This he ordained7760 in Joseph3084 for a testimony,5715 when he went3318 out through5921 the land776 of Egypt:4714 where I heard8085 a language8193 that I understood3045 not.

6 I removed5493 his shoulder7926 from the burden:5449 his hands3709 were delivered5674 from the pots.1731

7 You called7121 in trouble,6869 and I delivered2502 you; I answered6030 you in the secret5643 place of thunder:7482 I proved974 you at5291 the waters4325 of Meribah.4809 Selah.5542

8 Hear,8085 O my people,5971 and I will testify5749 to you: O Israel,3478 if518 you will listen8085 to me;

9 There shall no3808 strange2114 god410 be in you; neither3808 shall you worship7812 any strange5236 god.410

10 I am the LORD3068 your God,430 which brought5927 you out of the land776 of Egypt:4714 open your mouth6310 wide,7337 and I will fill4390 it.

11 But my people5971 would not listen8085 to my voice;6963 and Israel3478 would14 none3808 of me.

12 So I gave7971 them up to their own hearts'3820 lust:8307 and they walked3212 in their own counsels.4156

13 Oh3863 that my people5971 had listened8085 to me, and Israel3478 had walked1980 in my ways!1870

14 I should soon4592 have subdued3665 their enemies,341 and turned7725 my hand3027 against5921 their adversaries.6862

15 The haters8130 of the LORD3068 should have submitted3584 themselves to him: but their time6256 should have endured1961 for ever.5769

16 He should have fed398 them also with the finest2459 of the wheat:2406 and with honey1706 out of the rock6697 should I have satisfied7649 you.

Psalm 81

1 SING aloud to God our strength; make a joyful noise to the God of Jacob.

2 Take a psalm and bring hither the timbrel, the pleasant harp with the psaltery.

3 Blow trumpets in the new moon in the time appointed, on our solemn feast days.

4 For this was a statute for Israel and a law of the God of Jacob.

5 This he ordained in Joseph for a testimony when he went out to the land of Egypt, where he heard a language that he understood not.

6 I removed the yoke from his shoulder, I released his hands from the bonds.

7 He called on me in trouble, and I delivered him; I sheltered him under my glorious cover; I tested him at the waters of dispute.

8 Hear, O my people, and I will speak; O Israel, I will testify about you. If you will listen to me;

9 There shall be no strange god in you; neither shall you worship any strange god.

10 I am the LORD your God, which brought you out of the land of Egypt; open your mouth wide, and I will fill it.

11 But my people would not listen to my voice; and Israel would have none of me.

12 So they walked according to the desires of their own hearts and according to their own counsels.

13 Oh that my people had listened to me, and Israel had walked in my ways!

14 I would soon have destroyed their enemies, and turned my hand against their adversaries.

15 The haters of the LORD have lied to him; but they shall tremble for ever.

16 He has fed them also with the finest of the wheat; and with honey out of the rock has he satisfied them.
