2 And to the kings4428 that were on the north6828 of the mountains,2022 and of the plains6160 south5045 of Chinneroth,3672 and in the valley,8219 and in the borders5299 of Dor1756 on the west,3220

3 And to the Canaanite3669 on the east4217 and on the west,3220 and to the Amorite,567 and the Hittite,2850 and the Perizzite,6522 and the Jebusite2983 in the mountains,2022 and to the Hivite2340 under8478 Hermon2768 in the land776 of Mizpeh.4709

4 And they went3318 out, they and all3605 their hosts4264 with them, much7227 people,5971 even as the sand2344 that is on the sea3220 shore8193 in multitude,7230 with horses5483 and chariots7393 very3966 many.7227

5 And when all3605 these428 kings4428 were met3259 together,3162 they came935 and pitched2583 together3162 at413 the waters4325 of Merom,4792 to fight3898 against5973 Israel.3478

6 And the LORD3068 said559 to Joshua,3091 Be not afraid3372 because6440 of them: for to morrow4279 about this2063 time6256 will I deliver5414 them up all3605 slain2491 before6440 Israel:3478 you shall hamstring6131 their horses,5483 and burn8313 their chariots4818 with fire.784

7 So Joshua3091 came,935 and all3605 the people5971 of war4421 with him, against5921 them by the waters4325 of Merom4792 suddenly;6597 and they fell5307 on them.

8 And the LORD3068 delivered5414 them into the hand3027 of Israel,3478 who smote5221 them, and chased7291 them to great7227 Zidon,6721 and to Misrephothmaim,4956 and to the valley1237 of Mizpeh4708 eastward;4217 and they smote5221 them, until5704 they left7604 them none1115 remaining.8300

9 And Joshua3091 did6213 to them as the LORD3068 bade559 him: he hamstrung6131 their horses,5483 and burnt8313 their chariots4818 with fire.784

10 And Joshua3091 at that time6256 turned7725 back,7725 and took3920 Hazor,2674 and smote5221 the king4428 thereof with the sword:2719 for Hazor2674 beforetime6440 was the head7218 of all3605 those428 kingdoms.4467

11 And they smote5221 all3605 the souls5315 that were therein with the edge6310 of the sword,2719 utterly destroying2763 them: there was not any3605 left3498 to breathe:5397 and he burnt8313 Hazor2674 with fire.784

12 And all3605 the cities5892 of those428 kings,4428 and all3605 the kings4428 of them, did Joshua3091 take,3920 and smote5221 them with the edge6310 of the sword,2719 and he utterly destroyed2763 them, as Moses4872 the servant5650 of the LORD3068 commanded.6680

13 But as for the cities5892 that stood5975 still in their strength,8510 Israel3478 burned8313 none3808 of them, save2108 Hazor2674 only;905 that did Joshua3091 burn.8313

14 And all3605 the spoil7998 of these428 cities,5892 and the cattle,929 the children1121 of Israel3478 took for a prey962 to themselves;1992 but every3605 man120 they smote5221 with the edge6310 of the sword,2719 until5704 they had destroyed8045 them, neither3808 left7604 they any3605 to breathe.5397

15 As the LORD3068 commanded6680 Moses4872 his servant,5650 so3651 did Moses4872 command6680 Joshua,3091 and so3651 did6213 Joshua;3091 he left5493 nothing3808 1697 undone5493 of all3605 that the LORD3068 commanded6680 Moses.4872

16 So Joshua3091 took3947 all3605 that land,776 the hills,2022 and all3605 the south5045 country, and all3605 the land776 of Goshen,1657 and the valley,8219 and the plain,6160 and the mountain2022 of Israel,3478 and the valley8219 of the same;

17 Even from the mount2022 Halak,2510 that goes5927 up to Seir,8165 even to Baalgad1171 in the valley1237 of Lebanon3844 under8478 mount2022 Hermon:2768 and all3605 their kings4428 he took,3920 and smote5221 them, and slew4191 them.

18 Joshua3091 made6213 war4421 a long7227 time3117 with all3605 those428 kings.4428

19 There was not a city5892 that made peace7999 with the children1121 of Israel,3478 save1115 the Hivites2340 the inhabitants3427 of Gibeon:1391 all3605 other they took3947 in battle.4421

20 For it was of the LORD3068 to harden2388 their hearts,3820 that they should come7122 against7125 Israel3478 in battle,4421 that he might destroy2763 them utterly, and that they might have1961 no1115 favor,8467 but that he might destroy8045 them, as the LORD3068 commanded6680 Moses.4872

21 And at that time6256 came935 Joshua,3091 and cut3772 off the Anakims6062 from the mountains,2022 from Hebron,2275 from Debir,1688 from Anab,6024 and from all3605 the mountains2022 of Judah,3063 and from all3605 the mountains2022 of Israel:3478 Joshua3091 destroyed2763 them utterly with their cities.5892

22 There was none3808 of the Anakims6062 left3498 in the land776 of the children1121 of Israel:3478 only7535 in Gaza,5804 in Gath,1661 and in Ashdod,795 there remained.7604

23 So Joshua3091 took3947 the whole854 3605 land,776 according to all3605 that the LORD3068 said1696 to Moses;4872 and Joshua3091 gave5414 it for an inheritance5159 to Israel3478 according to their divisions4256 by their tribes.7626 And the land776 rested8252 from war.4421
