1 When3588 a man376 hath taken3947 a wife,802 and married1166 her, and it come to pass1961 that518 she find4672 no3808 favor2580 in his eyes,5869 because3588 he hath found4672 some1697 uncleanness6172 in her: then let him write3789 her a bill5612 of divorcement,3748 and give5414 it in her hand,3027 and send7971 her out of his house.4480 1004

2 And when she is departed3318 out of his house,4480 1004 she may go1980 and be1961 another312 man's376 wife.

3 And if the latter314 husband376 hate8130 her, and write3789 her a bill5612 of divorcement,3748 and giveth5414 it in her hand,3027 and sendeth7971 her out of his house;4480 1004 or176 if3588 the latter314 husband376 die,4191 which834 took3947 her to be his wife;802

4 Her former7223 husband,1167 which834 sent her away,7971 may3201 not3808 take3947 her again7725 to be1961 his wife,802 after that310 834 she is defiled;2930 for3588 that1931 is abomination8441 before6440 the LORD:3068 and thou shalt not3808 cause853 the land776 to sin,2398 which834 the LORD3068 thy God430 giveth5414 thee for an inheritance.5159

5 When3588 a man376 hath taken3947 a new2319 wife,802 he shall not3808 go out3318 to war,6635 neither3808 shall he be charged5674 with5921 any3605 business:1697 but he shall be1961 free5355 at home1004 one259 year,8141 and shall cheer up8055 853 his wife802 which834 he hath taken.3947

6 No3808 man shall take2254 the nether7347 or the upper7393 millstone7347 to pledge:2254 for3588 he1931 taketh2254 a man's life5315 to pledge.2254

7 If3588 a man376 be found4672 stealing1589 any5315 of his brethren4480 251 of the children4480 1121 of Israel,3478 and maketh merchandise6014 of him, or selleth4376 him; then that1931 thief1590 shall die;4191 and thou shalt put evil away1197 7451 from among4480 7130 you.

8 Take heed8104 in the plague5061 of leprosy,6883 that thou observe8104 diligently,3966 and do6213 according to all3605 that834 the priests3548 the Levites3881 shall teach3384 you: as834 I commanded6680 them, so ye shall observe8104 to do.6213

9 Remember2142 853 what834 the LORD3068 thy God430 did6213 unto Miriam4813 by the way,1870 after that ye were come forth3318 out of Egypt.4480 4714

10 When3588 thou dost lend5383 thy brother7453 any3972 thing,4859 thou shalt not3808 go935 into413 his house1004 to fetch5670 his pledge.5667

11 Thou shalt stand5975 abroad,2351 and the man376 to whom834 thou859 dost lend5383 shall bring out3318 853 the pledge5667 abroad2351 unto413 thee.

12 And if518 the man376 be poor,6041 thou shalt not3808 sleep7901 with his pledge: 5667

13 In any case thou shalt deliver7725 7725 him853 the pledge5667 again when the sun8121 goeth down,935 that he may sleep7901 in his own raiment,8008 and bless1288 thee: and it shall be1961 righteousness6666 unto thee before6440 the LORD3068 thy God.430

14 Thou shalt not3808 oppress6231 a hired servant7916 that is poor6041 and needy,34 whether he be of thy brethren,4480 251 or176 of thy strangers4480 1616 that834 are in thy land776 within thy gates: 8179

15 At his day3117 thou shalt give5414 him his hire,7939 neither3808 shall the sun8121 go down935 upon5921 it; for3588 he1931 is poor,6041 and setteth5375 853 his heart5315 upon413 it: lest3808 he cry7121 against5921 thee unto413 the LORD,3068 and it be1961 sin2399 unto thee.

16 The fathers1 shall not3808 be put to death4191 for5921 the children,1121 neither3808 shall the children1121 be put to death4191 for5921 the fathers:1 every man376 shall be put to death4191 for his own sin.2399

17 Thou shalt not3808 pervert5186 the judgment4941 of the stranger,1616 nor of the fatherless;3490 nor3808 take2254 a widow's490 raiment899 to pledge: 2254

18 But thou shalt remember2142 that3588 thou wast1961 a bondman5650 in Egypt,4714 and the LORD3068 thy God430 redeemed6299 thee thence:4480 8033 therefore5921 3651 I595 command6680 thee to do6213 853 this2088 thing.1697

19 When3588 thou cuttest down7114 thine harvest7105 in thy field,7704 and hast forgot7911 a sheaf6016 in the field,7704 thou shalt not3808 go again7725 to fetch3947 it: it shall be1961 for the stranger,1616 for the fatherless,3490 and for the widow:490 that4616 the LORD3068 thy God430 may bless1288 thee in all3605 the work4639 of thine hands.3027

Chapter 24

1 IF a man takes a wife, and lies with her, and if she finds no favor in his eyes, because he has found some evidence of open prostitution in her; then let him write her a bill of divorcement, and give it to her, and send her out of his house.

2 And when she has left his house, and if she goes and becomes another man's wife,

3 And if that husband hates her, and writes her a bill of divorcement, and gives it to her, and sends her out of his house, or if that husband who took her to be his wife dies;

4 Then her former husband, who sent her away, has no right to take her again to be his wife, after she has been defiled; for that is an abomination before the LORD; and you shall not cause the land to sin, which the LORD your God gives you for an inheritance.

5 When a man takes a new wife, he shall not go out with the army, neither shall he be charged with any business; but he shall be free at his home for one year, and shall rejoice with his wife whom he has taken.

6 No man shall take the nether or the upper millstone as a pledge; for he takes a man's life to pledge.

7 If a man of the children of Israel is found stealing any of his brethren of the children of Israel, to make merchandise of him, or sell him; then that thief shall surely die; and you shall put evil away from among you.

8 Take heed in the plague of leprosy, and be exceedingly careful, and do according to all that the priests and the Levites shall teach you; as I commanded them, so you shall be careful to do.

9 Remember what the LORD your God did to Miriam on the way, after you came forth out of Egypt.

10 If your neighbor owes you a debt, you shall not go into his house to fetch his pledge.

11 But you shall wait in the street, and the man who is your debtor shall bring out the pledge to you.

12 And if the man is poor, you shall not sleep with his mantle.

13 But you shall return to him his mantle again when the sun goes down, that he may sleep in his own mantle, and bless you; and it shall be righteousness to you before the LORD your God.

14 You shall not cheat the wages of a hired laborer who is poor and needy, whether he is of your brethren or of the strangers who are in your cities;

15 But you shall pay him his wages on the same day, neither shall the sun go down upon it; for he is poor, and it is because of his wages that he places himself at your disposal; lest he cry against you to the LORD, and it be sin against you.

16 The fathers shall not be put to death for their children, neither shall the children be put to death for their fathers; but every man shall be put to death for his own sin.

17 You shall not pervert the justice due to the stranger, nor to the orphan; nor take a widow's garment as a pledge;

18 But you shall remember that you were a bondman in Egypt, and the LORD your God delivered you from there; therefore I command you to do this thing:

19 When you reap the harvest in your field, and have forgotten a sheaf in the field, you shall not return to fetch it; it shall be for the stranger, for the fatherless, and for the widow, that the LORD your God may bless you in all the works of your hands.

20 When you beat your olive trees, you shall not go over the boughs again; it shall be for the stranger, for the orphan, and for the widow.

21 When you gather the grapes of your vineyard, you shall not glean it afterward; it shall be for the stranger, for the fatherless, and for the widow.

22 And you shall remember that you were a bondman in Egypt; therefore I command you to do this thing.
