Chapter 25

1 THEN the kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins, who took their lamps, and went out to greet the bridegroom and the bride.

2 Five of them were wise, and five were foolish.

3 And the foolish ones took their lamps, but took no oil with them.

4 But the wise ones took oil in the vessels with their lamps.

5 As the bridegroom was delayed, they all slumbered and slept.

6 And at midnight there was a cry, Behold, the bridegroom is coming; go out to greet him.

7 Then all the virgins got up and fixed their lamps.

8 And the foolish ones said to the wise ones, Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.

9 Then the wise ones answered and said, Why, there would not be enough for us and for you; go to those who sell and buy for yourselves.

10 And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and those who were ready entered with him into the wedding house, and the door was locked.

11 Afterward the other virgins also came and said, Our lord, our lord, open to us.

12 But he answered and said to them, Truly I say to you, I do not know you.

13 Be alert, therefore, for you do not know, that day nor the hour.

14 It is just like a man who went on a journey, who called his servants and put his wealth in their charge.

15 To one he gave five talents, to one two, to another one; to each one according to his ability; and immediately he went on a journey.

16 The one who received five talents then went and traded with them, and he earned five others.

17 Likewise the second one, he gained by trading gained two others.

18 But he who received one, went and dug in the ground, and hid his lord's money.

19 After a long time, the lord of those servants returned, and took an accounting from them.

20 Then the one who received five talents came up, and offered five others, and he said, My lord, you gave me five talents; behold, I have gained five others to them.

21 His lord said to him, Well done, good and reliable servant; you have been faithful over a little, I will appoint you over much; enter into your master's joy.

22 Then the one with the two talents came and he said, My lord, you gave me two talents, behold I have gained two others to them.

23 His lord said to him, Well done, good and reliable servant, you have been faithful over a little, I will appoint you over much; enter into your master's joy.

24 Then the one who received one talent also came up, and he said, My lord, I knew that you are a hard man, and you reap where you did not sow, and gather where you did not scatter.

25 So I was afraid, and I went and hid your talent in the ground; here it is, it is your own one.

26 His lord answered and said to him, O wicked and lazy servant, you knew me that I reap where I did not sow, and I gather where I did not scatter.

27 You should then have put my money in the exchange, and when I returned I would have demanded my own with interest.

28 Therefore take away the talent from him, and give it to the one who has ten talents.

29 For to him who has, it shall he given, and it shall increase to him; but he who has not, even that which he has shall be taken away from him.

30 And the idle servant they threw into the outer darkness; there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

31 When the Son of man comes in his glory, and all his holy angels with him, then he will sit upon the throne of his glory.

32 And all nations will gather before him; and he will separate them one from another, just as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats;

33 And he will set the sheep at his right, and the goats at his left.

34 Then the King will say to those at his right, Come, you blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom which has been prepared for you from the foundation of the world.

35 For I was hungry, and you gave me to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave me to drink; I was a stranger and you took me in;

36 I was naked, and you covered me; I was sick, and you visited me; I was in prison, and you came to me.

37 Then the righteous will say to him, Our Lord, when did we see you hungry, and feed you? or thirsty and gave you drink?

38 And when did we see you a stranger, and took you in? Or that you were naked, and covered you?

39 And when did we see you sick, or in the prison, and come to you?

40 The king then will answer and say to them, Truly I tell you, Inasmuch as you have done it to one of these least brethren, you did it to me.

41 Then he will also say to those at his left, Go away from me, you cursed, to the everlasting fire, which is prepared for the adversary and his angels.

42 For I was hungry, and you did not give me to eat; I was thirsty, and you did not give me to drink;

43 I was a stranger, and you did not take me in; I was naked, and you did not cover me; I was sick and in prison and you did not visit me.

44 Then they also will answer and say, Our lord, when did we see you hungry, or thirsty, or a stranger, or naked, or sick or in the prison, and did not minister to you?

45 Then he will answer and say to them, Truly I say to you, Inasmuch as you did not do it to one of these least ones, you also did not do it to me.

46 And these shall go into everlasting torment, and the righteous into eternal life.

9 But the wise5429 answered,611 saying,3004 Not so;3779 lest3379 there be not enough714 for us and you: but go4198 you rather3123 to them that sell,4453 and buy59 for yourselves.1438

10 And while they went565 to buy,59 the bridegroom3566 came;2064 and they that were ready2092 went1525 in with him to the marriage:1062 and the door2374 was shut.2808

11 Afterward5305 came2064 also2532 the other3062 virgins,3933 saying,3004 Lord,2962 Lord,2962 open455 to us.

12 But he answered611 and said,2036 Truly281 I say3004 to you, I know1492 you not.

13 Watch1127 therefore,3767 for you know1492 neither3383 the day2250 nor3761 the hour5610 wherein1722 3739 the Son5207 of man444 comes.2064

14 For the kingdom932 of heaven3772 is as a man444 traveling589 into a far country,589 who called2564 his own2398 servants,1401 and delivered3860 to them his goods.5224

21 His lord2962 said5346 to him, Well2095 done, you good18 and faithful4103 servant:1401 you have been2258 faithful4103 over1909 a few3641 things, I will make2525 you ruler2525 over1909 many4183 things: enter1525 you into1519 the joy5479 of your lord.2962

22 He also2532 that had received2983 two1417 talents5007 came4334 and said,2036 Lord,2962 you delivered3860 to me two1417 talents:5007 behold,2396 I have gained2770 two1417 other243 talents5007 beside1909 them.

26 His lord2962 answered611 and said2036 to him, You wicked4190 and slothful3636 servant,1401 you knew1492 that I reap2325 where3699 I sowed4687 not, and gather4863 where3606 I have not strewed:1287

27 You ought1163 therefore3767 to have put906 my money694 to the exchangers,5133 and then at my coming2064 I should have received2865 my1699 own with usury.5110

28 Take142 therefore3767 the talent5007 from him, and give1325 it to him which has2192 ten1176 talents.5007

29 For to every3956 one that has2192 shall be given,1325 and he shall have abundance:4052 but from him that has2192 not shall be taken142 away142 even2532 that which he has.2192

32 And before1715 him shall be gathered4863 all3956 nations:1484 and he shall separate873 them one240 from another,240 as a shepherd4166 divides873 his sheep4263 from the goats:2056

33 And he shall set2476 the sheep4263 on1537 his right1188 hand, but the goats2055 on1537 the left.2176

34 Then5119 shall the King935 say2046 to them on1537 his right1188 hand, Come,1205 you blessed2127 of my Father,3962 inherit2816 the kingdom932 prepared2090 for you from the foundation2602 of the world:2889

35 For I was an hungered,3983 and you gave1325 me meat:5315 I was thirsty,1372 and you gave4222 me drink:4222 I was a stranger,3581 and you took4863 me in:

41 Then5119 shall he say2046 also2532 to them on1537 the left2176 hand, Depart4198 from me, you cursed,2672 into1519 everlasting166 fire,4442 prepared2090 for the devil1228 and his angels:32

42 For I was an hungered,3983 and you gave1325 me no3756 meat:5315 I was thirsty,1372 and you gave4222 me no3756 drink:4222

43 I was a stranger,3581 and you took4863 me not in: naked,1131 and you clothed4016 me not: sick,772 and in prison,5438 and you visited1980 me not.

44 Then5119 shall they also2532 answer611 him, saying,3004 Lord,2962 when4218 saw1492 we you an hungered,3983 or2228 thirsty,1372 or2228 a stranger,3581 or2228 naked,1131 or2228 sick,772 or2228 in prison,5438 and did not minister1247 to you?
