Chapter 33

1 AND the LORD said to Moses, Depart, and go up hence, you and the people whom you have brought up out of the land of Egypt, to the land which I swore to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, saying, To your descendants will I give it;

2 And I will send an angel before you; and he will destroy the Canaanites, the Amorites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites;

3 Go to a land flowing with milk and honey; for I will not go up among you; for you are a stiff-necked people; lest I consume you on the way.

4 And when the people heard this bad news, they mourned; and no man did put on him his armor.

5 Then the LORD said to Moses, Say to the children of Israel, You are a stiff-necked people; I will come up among you in a moment, and consume you; therefore now put off your armor from you, that I may know what to do to you.

6 And the children of Israel stripped themselves of their armor by mount Horeb.

7 And Moses took his tent and pitched it outside the camp, afar off from the camp, and called it the tabernacle of the congregation. And it came to pass that every one who sought to inquire of the LORD went out to the tabernacle of the congregation, which was outside the camp.

8 And it came to pass when Moses went out to the tabernacle that all the people rose up and stood every man at his tent door and looked after Moses until he entered the tabernacle.

9 And it came to pass as Moses entered into the tabernacle the pillar of cloud descended and stood at the door of the tabernacle and the LORD talked with Moses.

10 And all the people saw the pillar of cloud standing at the door of the tabernacle; and all the people rose up and worshipped, every man in his tent door.

11 And the LORD spoke to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend. And he returned to the camp; but his servant Joshua, the son of Nun, a young man, departed not from the tabernacle.

12 And Moses said to the LORD, See, thou sayest to me, Bring up this people; and thou hast not let me know whom thou wilt send with me. Yet thou hast said, I know you by name, and thou hast also found favor in my sight.

13 Now therefore, if I have found favor in thy sight, show me now the way that I may know thee, that I may find favor in thy sight; and consider that this thy people is a great nation.

14 And the LORD said to Moses, Go ahead of me, and I will give you rest.

15 And he said to him, If thou thyself will not go with us, let us not leave this place.

16 For wherein shall it be known here that I and thy people have found mercy in thy sight? Is it not in that thou goest with us? So that we be distinguished, I and thy people, from all the people that are upon the face of the earth.

17 And the LORD said to Moses, I will do this thing also that you have spoken; for you have found grace in my sight, and I know you by your name.

18 And Moses said, Show me thy glory.

19 And he said. I will make all my goodness pass before you, and I will proclaim the name of the LORD before you; and I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will show mercy on whom I will show mercy.

20 And he said, You cannot see my face; for no man can see me and live.

21 And the LORD said to Moses, Behold, there is a place in front of me, and you shall stand upon the rock;

22 And it shall come to pass when my glory passes by that I will put you in a cave of the rock and will rest my hand upon you till I pass by;

23 And I will take away my hand, and you shall see my back; but my face shall not be seen.

1 Тогда Господь повелел Моисею: «Ты и народ, который ты вывел из Египта, должны уйти отсюда. Идите в ту землю, которую Я обещал отдать Аврааму, Исааку, Иакову и их потомкам.

2 Я пошлю перед тобой Ангела и одолею хананеев, аморреев, хеттеев, ферезеев, евеев и иевусеев. Я изгоню эти народы из твоей земли.

3 Иди в землю, изобилующую всякими благами, но Я не пойду с тобой: вы — народ неподатливый, и если Я пойду с вами, то как бы Мне не погубить вас в пути».

4 Услышав плохую новость, весь народ очень опечалился, и люди перестали носить украшения,

5 потому что Господь сказал Моисею: «Вы — народ неподатливый. Я могу погубить вас, если проведу с вами в пути хотя бы короткое время. Снимите с себя все свои украшения, а Я решу, что с вами делать».

6 Тогда израильский народ снял с себя все украшения у горы Хорив.

7 В то время Моисей взял и поставил шатёр вне стана и назвал его шатром собрания. Каждый, желавший просить о чём-то Господа, приходил в этот шатёр собрания, находившийся за пределами лагеря.

8 Каждый раз, когда Моисей шёл в шатёр, народ наблюдал за ним, люди стояли у входа в свои шатры и смотрели вслед Моисею, пока он не войдёт в шатёр.

9 Когда же Моисей входил в шатёр, туда спускался облачный столб и становился у входа, и Господь говорил с Моисеем.

10 Увидев облако у входа в шатёр, люди выходили, и каждый поклонялся у входа в свой шатёр.

11 Господь говорил с Моисеем лицом к лицу, как говорят с другом. Поговорив с Господом, Моисей возвращался обратно в стан, а его помощник Иисус, сын Навина, никогда не отлучался из шатра.

12 Моисей обратился к Господу с такими словами: «Ты сказал Мне, чтобы я вёл этот народ, но не сказал, кого пошлёшь со мной. Ты сказал мне: „Я хорошо знаю тебя, ты приобрёл Моё благоволение”.

13 Если я и в самом деле приобрёл Твоё благоволение, то открой мне, как лучше узнать Тебя, чтобы мне и впредь иметь Твоё благоволение. И не забудь, что эти люди — Твой народ!»

14 «Я Сам пойду с тобой, — сказал Господь, — Я поведу тебя».

15 И сказал тогда Моисей: «Если Ты не пойдёшь с нами, то не выводи нас из этого места.

16 И ещё, как мы узнаем, что я и Твой народ обрели Твоё благоволение? Если Ты пойдёшь с нами, тогда мы будем знать наверняка! Если же Ты не пойдёшь с нами, то я и этот народ не будем отличаться от любого другого народа на земле!»

17 Господь сказал Моисею: «Я сделаю то, что ты просишь, сделаю это потому, что благоволю к тебе и хорошо знаю тебя».

18 Тогда Моисей сказал Господу: «Прошу Тебя, покажи мне Твою славу».

19 Господь ответил: «Я проведу перед тобой Мою совершенную славу, Я — Господь, и Я объявлю Моё имя, Иегова, чтобы ты мог услышать его, потому что Я могу показать Свою милость и любовь тому, кого изберу.

20 Но тебе нельзя видеть Моё лицо, так как человек не может увидеть Меня и остаться в живых.

21 Вот тут, неподалеку от Меня, есть скала. Встань на этой скале,

22 и Моя слава пройдёт мимо этого места. Я сделаю большую расселину в скале и покрою тебя Своей рукой пока не пройду,

23 а затем уберу руку, и ты увидишь Мою спину, но Моего лица не увидишь».

2 Я пошлю перед тобой Ангела и одолею хананеев, аморреев, хеттеев, ферезеев, евеев и иевусеев. Я изгоню эти народы из твоей земли.

3 Go to a land flowing with milk and honey; for I will not go up among you; for you are a stiff-necked people; lest I consume you on the way.

3 Иди в землю, изобилующую всякими благами, но Я не пойду с тобой: вы — народ неподатливый, и если Я пойду с вами, то как бы Мне не погубить вас в пути».

4 And when the people heard this bad news, they mourned; and no man did put on him his armor.

4 Услышав плохую новость, весь народ очень опечалился, и люди перестали носить украшения,

5 Then the LORD said to Moses, Say to the children of Israel, You are a stiff-necked people; I will come up among you in a moment, and consume you; therefore now put off your armor from you, that I may know what to do to you.

5 потому что Господь сказал Моисею: «Вы — народ неподатливый. Я могу погубить вас, если проведу с вами в пути хотя бы короткое время. Снимите с себя все свои украшения, а Я решу, что с вами делать».

6 And the children of Israel stripped themselves of their armor by mount Horeb.

6 Тогда израильский народ снял с себя все украшения у горы Хорив.

7 В то время Моисей взял и поставил шатёр вне стана и назвал его шатром собрания. Каждый, желавший просить о чём-то Господа, приходил в этот шатёр собрания, находившийся за пределами лагеря.

8 And it came to pass when Moses went out to the tabernacle that all the people rose up and stood every man at his tent door and looked after Moses until he entered the tabernacle.

8 Каждый раз, когда Моисей шёл в шатёр, народ наблюдал за ним, люди стояли у входа в свои шатры и смотрели вслед Моисею, пока он не войдёт в шатёр.

9 And it came to pass as Moses entered into the tabernacle the pillar of cloud descended and stood at the door of the tabernacle and the LORD talked with Moses.

9 Когда же Моисей входил в шатёр, туда спускался облачный столб и становился у входа, и Господь говорил с Моисеем.

10 And all the people saw the pillar of cloud standing at the door of the tabernacle; and all the people rose up and worshipped, every man in his tent door.

10 Увидев облако у входа в шатёр, люди выходили, и каждый поклонялся у входа в свой шатёр.

11 And the LORD spoke to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend. And he returned to the camp; but his servant Joshua, the son of Nun, a young man, departed not from the tabernacle.

11 Господь говорил с Моисеем лицом к лицу, как говорят с другом. Поговорив с Господом, Моисей возвращался обратно в стан, а его помощник Иисус, сын Навина, никогда не отлучался из шатра.

12 And Moses said to the LORD, See, thou sayest to me, Bring up this people; and thou hast not let me know whom thou wilt send with me. Yet thou hast said, I know you by name, and thou hast also found favor in my sight.

12 Моисей обратился к Господу с такими словами: «Ты сказал Мне, чтобы я вёл этот народ, но не сказал, кого пошлёшь со мной. Ты сказал мне: „Я хорошо знаю тебя, ты приобрёл Моё благоволение”.

13 Now therefore, if I have found favor in thy sight, show me now the way that I may know thee, that I may find favor in thy sight; and consider that this thy people is a great nation.

13 Если я и в самом деле приобрёл Твоё благоволение, то открой мне, как лучше узнать Тебя, чтобы мне и впредь иметь Твоё благоволение. И не забудь, что эти люди — Твой народ!»

14 And the LORD said to Moses, Go ahead of me, and I will give you rest.

14 «Я Сам пойду с тобой, — сказал Господь, — Я поведу тебя».

15 And he said to him, If thou thyself will not go with us, let us not leave this place.

15 И сказал тогда Моисей: «Если Ты не пойдёшь с нами, то не выводи нас из этого места.

16 For wherein shall it be known here that I and thy people have found mercy in thy sight? Is it not in that thou goest with us? So that we be distinguished, I and thy people, from all the people that are upon the face of the earth.

16 И ещё, как мы узнаем, что я и Твой народ обрели Твоё благоволение? Если Ты пойдёшь с нами, тогда мы будем знать наверняка! Если же Ты не пойдёшь с нами, то я и этот народ не будем отличаться от любого другого народа на земле!»

17 And the LORD said to Moses, I will do this thing also that you have spoken; for you have found grace in my sight, and I know you by your name.

17 Господь сказал Моисею: «Я сделаю то, что ты просишь, сделаю это потому, что благоволю к тебе и хорошо знаю тебя».

18 And Moses said, Show me thy glory.

18 Тогда Моисей сказал Господу: «Прошу Тебя, покажи мне Твою славу».

19 And he said. I will make all my goodness pass before you, and I will proclaim the name of the LORD before you; and I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will show mercy on whom I will show mercy.

19 Господь ответил: «Я проведу перед тобой Мою совершенную славу, Я — Господь, и Я объявлю Моё имя, Иегова, чтобы ты мог услышать его, потому что Я могу показать Свою милость и любовь тому, кого изберу.

20 And he said, You cannot see my face; for no man can see me and live.

20 Но тебе нельзя видеть Моё лицо, так как человек не может увидеть Меня и остаться в живых.

21 And the LORD said to Moses, Behold, there is a place in front of me, and you shall stand upon the rock;

21 Вот тут, неподалеку от Меня, есть скала. Встань на этой скале,

22 And it shall come to pass when my glory passes by that I will put you in a cave of the rock and will rest my hand upon you till I pass by;

22 и Моя слава пройдёт мимо этого места. Я сделаю большую расселину в скале и покрою тебя Своей рукой пока не пройду,

23 And I will take away my hand, and you shall see my back; but my face shall not be seen.

23 а затем уберу руку, и ты увидишь Мою спину, но Моего лица не увидишь».
