Глава 22

1 – Братья и отцы, разрешите мне высказаться в свою защиту.

2 Когда они услышали, что он говорит на языке иудеев, то вовсе утихли. И он сказал:

3 – Я иудей, уроженец Тарса в Киликии, но воспитывался я в этом городе у Гамалиила и был в точности научен Закону наших отцов. Я ревнитель дела Всевышнего, как и каждый из вас сегодня.

4 Я преследовал и мучил до смерти последователей Пути Исы, арестовывал мужчин и женщин и отправлял их в темницы.

5 Свидетели тому – верховный священнослужитель и весь Совет старейшин. Я даже получил от них письма к соплеменникам в Дамаске и отправился туда, чтобы арестовать там всех последователей Исы и привести их в Иерусалим для наказания.

6 По пути, когда я уже подходил к Дамаску, около полудня меня вдруг озарил ослепительный свет с неба.

7 Я упал на землю и услышал голос, который говорил мне: «Шаул! Шаул! Зачем ты преследуешь Меня?»

8 Я спросил: «Кто Ты, Владыка?» Он ответил: «Я Иса из Назарета, Которого ты преследуешь».

9 Мои спутники видели свет, но голоса, который я слышал, они не поняли.

10 Я спросил: «Повелитель, что мне делать?» Повелитель ответил: «Встань и иди в Дамаск. Там тебе скажут всё, что тебе предстоит сделать».

11 Мои спутники за руку привели меня в Дамаск, так как я был ослеплён сиянием этого света.

12 Там ко мне пришёл человек по имени Анания, тщательно соблюдающий Закон и уважаемый всеми местными иудеями.

13 Он подошёл ко мне и, встав рядом, сказал: «Брат Шаул, прозри!» И в тот же момент я прозрел и увидел этого человека.

14 Он сказал: «Бог наших предков избрал тебя, чтобы ты узнал Его волю, увидел Праведного и услышал голос из Его уст.

15 Ты будешь для всех людей свидетелем того, что ты видел и слышал.

16 Не медли! Вставай, пройди обряд погружения в воду и смой свои грехи, призвав Его имя».

17 Потом я возвратился в Иерусалим, и когда я молился в храме, мне было видение.

18 Я увидел Повелителя, Который говорил мне:«Скорее выйди из Иерусалима, потому что здесь не примут твоего свидетельства обо Мне».

19 Я ответил: «Повелитель, эти люди знают, что я ходил из одного молитвенного дома иудеев в другой, чтобы арестовывать и избивать тех, кто верит в Тебя.

20 Когда проливалась кровь Твоего свидетеля Стефана, я стоял там и одобрял это, я сторожил одежды его убийц».

21 Тогда Повелитель сказал мне: «Иди, Я посылаю тебя далеко, к другим народам».

22 До этих слов толпа слушала Паула, но тут они стали кричать: – Стереть его с лица земли! Он не достоин жизни!

23 Они кричали, размахивали своими плащами и бросали пыль в воздух.

24 Командир римского полка приказал увести Паула в казарму. Он велел избить его и допросить, чтобы узнать, почему народ так негодует на него.

25 Но когда Паула привязали, чтобы бить, он сказал стоявшему рядом офицеру: – Разве позволено бить римского гражданина, к тому же без суда?

26 Когда офицер это услышал, он пошёл и доложил командиру полка. – Что ты делаешь? Этот человек римский гражданин, – сказал он.

27 Командир вышел к Паулу и спросил: – Ты действительно римский гражданин? – Да, – ответил тот.

28 Тогда командир сказал: – Мне пришлось заплатить немало денег за моё гражданство. – А я даже родился римским гражданином, – ответил Паул.

29 Те, кто должен был его допрашивать, сразу же отступили от него. Командир тоже встревожился, когда узнал, что он заковал в цепи римского гражданина.

30 На следующий день командир, желая точно узнать, в чём же иудеи обвиняют Паула, освободил его от оков и приказал, чтобы собрались главные священнослужители и весь Высший Совет. Затем он ввёл Паула и поставил перед ними.

Chapter 22

1 BRETHREN and fathers, hear my defense which I now make to you.

2 And when they heard him speak to them in the Hebrew tongue (Aramaic), they were the more quiet: And he said,

3 I am a Jew, born in Tarsus of Ci-li'cia, yet I was brought up in this city under the care and guidance of Ga-ma'li-el, and trained perfectly according to the law of our fathers, and was zealous toward God, just as you are also.

4 And I persecuted this religion to the death, binding and delivering into prisons both men and women.

5 The high priest and all the elders can so testify about me, for it was from them that I received letters to go to the brethren at Damascus, to bring those who were there bound to Jerusalem to be punished.

6 And it came to pass as I drew near to Damascus, at about noon, suddenly a great light from heaven shone round about me.

7 And I fell to the ground, and heard a voice saying to me, Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?

8 And I answered and said, Who are you, my LORD? And he said to me, I am Jesus of Naz'a-reth, whom you persecute.

9 And the men who were with me saw the light, but they did not hear the voice that spoke to me.

10 And I said, What shall I do, my LORD? And our LORD said to me, Arise, and go into Da-mas'cus; and there it shall be told to you all things which are appointed for you to do.

11 And when I could not see for the glory of that light, being led by the hand of them that were with me, I came into Da-mas'cus.

12 And a certain man, An-a-ni'as, a righteous man according to the law, as testified by all the Jews concerning him,

13 Came to me and said, My brother Saul, receive your sight. And instantly my eyes were opened and I looked upon him.

14 And he said to me, The God of our fathers has appointed you to know his will, and to see the Righteous One, and to hear the voice of his mouth.

15 And you shall be a witness for him before all men, of all that you have seen and heard.

16 And now why do you delay? Arise, and be baptized and wash away your sins calling on the name of the LORD.

17 And it came to pass that when I returned here to Jerusalem and while praying in the temple,

18 I saw a vision, saying to me, Make haste, and get quickly out of Jerusalem: for they will not receive your testimony concerning me.

19 And I said, My LORD, they know that I imprisoned and beat, in every synagogue, those who believed in you:

20 And when the blood of your martyr Stephen was shed, I also was standing by, and was in accord with his slayers, and was in charge of the garments of them who stoned him.

21 Then he said to me, Depart: for I will send you afar to preach to the Gentiles.

22 They had given Paul audience up to this word, and then they lifted up their voices, and cried out, Away with such a fellow from the earth: for it is not fit that he should live.

23 And as they cried out and cast off their robes, and threw dust into the air,

24 The chief captain commanded him to be brought into the castle, and ordered that he should be examined by scourging; that he might know for what cause they cried so against him.

25 And when they had bound him with thongs, Paul said to the centurion who stood over him, Is it lawful for you to scourge a Roman citizen who is uncondemned?

26 When the centurion heard that, he went to the chief captain and said, Be careful what you do: for this man is a Roman citizen.

27 Then the captain came and said to him, Tell me, are you a Roman? Paul said, Yes.

28 And the captain answered and said, I obtained Roman citizenship with a great sum of money. Paul answered, But I was free born to it.

29 Immediately those who were ready to scourge him left him alone, and the captain was afraid when he found out that he was a Roman citizen, because he had bound him.

30 The next day, because he desired to know the truthfulness of the charges which the Jews had brought against Paul, he unbound him and commanded the high priests and all their council to appear before him, and he took Paul and brought him down, and set him before them.

3 I am a Jew, born in Tarsus of Ci-li'cia, yet I was brought up in this city under the care and guidance of Ga-ma'li-el, and trained perfectly according to the law of our fathers, and was zealous toward God, just as you are also.

4 Я преследовал и мучил до смерти последователей Пути Исы, арестовывал мужчин и женщин и отправлял их в темницы.

4 And I persecuted this religion to the death, binding and delivering into prisons both men and women.

5 The high priest and all the elders can so testify about me, for it was from them that I received letters to go to the brethren at Damascus, to bring those who were there bound to Jerusalem to be punished.

6 And it came to pass as I drew near to Damascus, at about noon, suddenly a great light from heaven shone round about me.

7 And I fell to the ground, and heard a voice saying to me, Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?

8 And I answered and said, Who are you, my LORD? And he said to me, I am Jesus of Naz'a-reth, whom you persecute.

9 And the men who were with me saw the light, but they did not hear the voice that spoke to me.

10 Я спросил: «Повелитель, что мне делать?» Повелитель ответил: «Встань и иди в Дамаск. Там тебе скажут всё, что тебе предстоит сделать».

10 And I said, What shall I do, my LORD? And our LORD said to me, Arise, and go into Da-mas'cus; and there it shall be told to you all things which are appointed for you to do.

11 Мои спутники за руку привели меня в Дамаск, так как я был ослеплён сиянием этого света.

11 And when I could not see for the glory of that light, being led by the hand of them that were with me, I came into Da-mas'cus.

12 Там ко мне пришёл человек по имени Анания, тщательно соблюдающий Закон и уважаемый всеми местными иудеями.

12 And a certain man, An-a-ni'as, a righteous man according to the law, as testified by all the Jews concerning him,

13 Он подошёл ко мне и, встав рядом, сказал: «Брат Шаул, прозри!» И в тот же момент я прозрел и увидел этого человека.

13 Came to me and said, My brother Saul, receive your sight. And instantly my eyes were opened and I looked upon him.

14 Он сказал: «Бог наших предков избрал тебя, чтобы ты узнал Его волю, увидел Праведного и услышал голос из Его уст.

14 And he said to me, The God of our fathers has appointed you to know his will, and to see the Righteous One, and to hear the voice of his mouth.

15 Ты будешь для всех людей свидетелем того, что ты видел и слышал.

15 And you shall be a witness for him before all men, of all that you have seen and heard.

16 And now why do you delay? Arise, and be baptized and wash away your sins calling on the name of the LORD.

17 Потом я возвратился в Иерусалим, и когда я молился в храме, мне было видение.

17 And it came to pass that when I returned here to Jerusalem and while praying in the temple,

18 Я увидел Повелителя, Который говорил мне:«Скорее выйди из Иерусалима, потому что здесь не примут твоего свидетельства обо Мне».

18 I saw a vision, saying to me, Make haste, and get quickly out of Jerusalem: for they will not receive your testimony concerning me.

22 They had given Paul audience up to this word, and then they lifted up their voices, and cried out, Away with such a fellow from the earth: for it is not fit that he should live.

23 Они кричали, размахивали своими плащами и бросали пыль в воздух.

23 And as they cried out and cast off their robes, and threw dust into the air,

24 Командир римского полка приказал увести Паула в казарму. Он велел избить его и допросить, чтобы узнать, почему народ так негодует на него.

24 The chief captain commanded him to be brought into the castle, and ordered that he should be examined by scourging; that he might know for what cause they cried so against him.

25 Но когда Паула привязали, чтобы бить, он сказал стоявшему рядом офицеру: – Разве позволено бить римского гражданина, к тому же без суда?

25 And when they had bound him with thongs, Paul said to the centurion who stood over him, Is it lawful for you to scourge a Roman citizen who is uncondemned?

26 Когда офицер это услышал, он пошёл и доложил командиру полка. – Что ты делаешь? Этот человек римский гражданин, – сказал он.

26 When the centurion heard that, he went to the chief captain and said, Be careful what you do: for this man is a Roman citizen.

27 Командир вышел к Паулу и спросил: – Ты действительно римский гражданин? – Да, – ответил тот.

27 Then the captain came and said to him, Tell me, are you a Roman? Paul said, Yes.

28 Тогда командир сказал: – Мне пришлось заплатить немало денег за моё гражданство. – А я даже родился римским гражданином, – ответил Паул.

28 And the captain answered and said, I obtained Roman citizenship with a great sum of money. Paul answered, But I was free born to it.

29 Те, кто должен был его допрашивать, сразу же отступили от него. Командир тоже встревожился, когда узнал, что он заковал в цепи римского гражданина.

29 Immediately those who were ready to scourge him left him alone, and the captain was afraid when he found out that he was a Roman citizen, because he had bound him.

30 The next day, because he desired to know the truthfulness of the charges which the Jews had brought against Paul, he unbound him and commanded the high priests and all their council to appear before him, and he took Paul and brought him down, and set him before them.
