Chapter 28

1 The wicked7563 flee5127 when no369 man pursues:7291 but the righteous6662 are bold982 as a lion.3715

2 For the transgression6588 of a land776 many7227 are the princes8269 thereof: but by a man120 of understanding995 and knowledge3045 the state3651 thereof shall be prolonged.748

3 A poor7326 man1397 that oppresses6231 the poor1800 is like a sweeping5502 rain4306 which leaves no369 food.3899

4 They that forsake5800 the law8451 praise1984 the wicked:7563 but such as keep8104 the law8451 contend1624 with them.

5 Evil7451 men582 understand995 not judgment:4941 but they that seek1245 the LORD3068 understand995 all3605 things.

6 Better2896 is the poor1800 that walks1980 in his uprightness,8537 than he that is perverse6141 in his ways,1870 though he be rich.6223

7 Whoever keeps5341 the law8451 is a wise995 son:1121 but he that is a companion7462 of riotous2151 men shames3637 his father.1

12 When righteous6662 men do rejoice,5970 there is great7227 glory:8597 but when the wicked7563 rise,6965 a man120 is hidden.2664

13 He that covers3680 his sins6588 shall not prosper:6743 but whoever confesses3034 and forsakes5800 them shall have mercy.7355

14 Happy835 is the man120 that fears6342 always:8548 but he that hardens7185 his heart3820 shall fall5307 into mischief.7451

2 Когда в стране много беззакония, у неё часто меняются правители, а при разумном правителе – стабильность.

3 Правитель, . притесняющий нищих, точно дождь проливной, губящий урожай.

4 Забывающие Закон славят нечестивых, а исполняющие Закон противостоят им.

5 Злодеи не понимают справедливости, а те, кто ищет Вечного, понимают её до конца.

6 Лучше бедняк, чей путь беспорочен, чем богач, чьи пути бесчестны.

7 Тот, кто хранит Закон, – сын рассудительный, а кто дружит с расточителями, срамит своего отца.

8 Тот, кто множит богатство непомерными процентами, копит его для того, кто щедр к беднякам.

9 У затыкающего уши, чтобы не слушать Закон, даже молитвы – мерзость.

10 Ведущий праведных по дурному пути попадёт в свою же западню, а непорочные унаследуют благо.

11 Богач может быть мудр в собственных глазах, но разумный бедняк видит его насквозь.

12 Когда торжествуют праведники, царит бурная радость, а когда побеждают злодеи, люди прячутся.

13 Скрывающий свои грехи не преуспеет, а признающий и оставляющий их найдёт милость.

14 Благословен человек, всегда боящийся Вечного, а коснеющий сердцем в упрямстве в беду попадёт.

15 Точно ревущий лев или рыщущий медведь – злой правитель над бедным людом.

16 Жестокий правитель нерассудителен, а жизнь ненавидящего нечестную наживу продлится.

17 Тот, кто мучим виной за убийство, будет беглецом до самой смерти; да не будет ему поддержки.

18 Тот, чей путь беспорочен, находится в безопасности, а тот, чьи пути лукавы, падёт внезапно.

19 Возделывающий свою землю будет есть досыта, а гоняющийся за пустыми мечтами насытится нищетой.

20 Верный человек будет богат благословениями, а спешащий разбогатеть не останется безнаказанным.

21 Проявлять лицеприятие нехорошо, но некоторые люди готовы сделать зло даже за кусок лепёшки.

22 Алчный человек торопится разбогатеть и не ведает, что его ждёт бедность.

23 Впоследствии справедливо упрекающий будет приятнее, чем тот, чей язык льстив.

24 Тот, кто обирает отца и мать и говорит: «Это не грех», сообщник головорезам.

25 Жадный человек разжигает ссоры, но полагающийся на Вечного будет процветать.

26 Тот, кто полагается на себя, – глупец, а кто держится мудрости, находится в безопасности.

27 У того, кто даёт бедным, не будет недостатка, а закрывающего от них глаза будут много проклинать.

28 Когда злодеи приходят к власти, люди скрываются, а когда они гибнут, умножаются праведники.
