Chapter 8

1 AND it came to pass after these things, Jesus was traveling in cities and villages, preaching and giving good news of the kingdom of God. And his twelve were with him,

2 And the women who were healed of diseases and unclean spirits, Mary who is called of Magdala, from whom seven demons went out,

3 And Joanna, the wife of Chuza the steward of Herod, and Susanna, and many others, who ministered to them of their wealth.

4 And when many people had gathered, and were coming to him from all the cities, he spoke by parables.

5 The sower went out to sow his seed. And when he sowed, some fell on the roadside; and it was trodden under foot, and the birds ate it.

6 Other fell upon the rock; and sprung up earlier, and because it had no moisture, it dried up.

7 And other fell among thistles; and the thistles sprung up with it and choked it.

8 And other fell in good and fertile ground; and sprung up and bore fruit a hundredfold. And when he said this, he cried out, He who has ears to hear, let him hear.

9 And his disciples asked him, What is this parable?

10 He said to them, To you it is granted to know the mystery of the kingdom of God; but to the rest it has to be said in figures; for while they see, they do not perceive; and while they hear, they do not understand.

11 This is the parable. The seed is the word of God.

12 Those on the roadside are those who hear the word; and the enemy comes and takes away the word from their heart, so that they may not believe and be saved.

13 Those on the rock are those who when they have heard, receive the word with joy; and yet they have no root, but their belief is for a while, and in time of trial they stumble.

14 That which fell among the thistles are those who hear the word, and then choke themselves with worries and riches and worldly covetousness, and bear no fruit.

15 But that in good soil, these are those who hear the word with pure and good heart, and keep it, and bear fruit with patience.

16 No man lights a lamp and covers it with a vessel, or puts it under the bed; but he puts it on the lamp holder, that whoever enters sees its light.

17 For there is nothing covered which will not be uncovered; and nothing hidden which will not be known, and come to light.

18 Take heed how you hear; for he who has, to him shall be given; and he who has not, even that which he thinks he has shall be taken away from him.

19 And there came to him his mother and his brothers, and they were not able to speak to him because of the crowd.

20 And they said to him, Your mother and your brothers are standing outside, and they want to see you.

21 He answered and said to them, These are my mother and my brothers, those who hear the word of God and do it.

22 It came to pass on one of the days, Jesus went up and sat in a boat with his disciples; and he said to them, Let us cross to the other side of the lake.

23 And while they were rowing Jesus fell asleep; and there rose a storm of wind on the lake; and the boat was near sinking.

24 And they came up and awoke him and said to him, Our teacher, our teacher, we are perishing. He got up and rebuked the winds and the waves of water, and they quieted down, and there was a calm.

25 And he said to them, Where is your faith? But as they were frightened, they wondered, saying one to another, O who is this man, who even commands the winds, and the waves and the sea obey him?

26 And they rowed and came to the country of the Gadarenes, which is on the coast opposite Galilee.

27 And when he landed, he was met by a man from the city, who had the demon in him for a long time, and he did not wear clothes, and did not live in a house, but in the cemetery.

28 When he saw Jesus, he cried out and fell before him, and said in a loud voice, What have we in common, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I beg you not to torment me.

29 For Jesus commanded the unclean spirit to go out of the man. For it was a long time since he was possessed, and bound with chains, and kept in fetters; but he would often break off his bonds and was driven into the desert by the demon.

30 Jesus asked him, What is your name? He said, Legion, because many demons had entered into him.

31 And they besought him not to command them to go down into the abyss.

32 Now there was there a herd of many swine feeding on the mountain; and they besought him to permit them to attack the swine. And he permitted them.

33 Then the demons went out of the man, and they attacked the swine; and that whole herd went straight to the cliff, and fell down into the lake and were drowned.

34 When the herdsmen saw what had happened, they fled and told it in the cities and in the villages.

35 And some men went out to see what had happened; and they came to Jesus, and found the man from whom the demons had gone out, dressed, and well behaved, and sitting at the feet of Jesus; and they were afraid.

36 And those who had seen it told them, how that lunatic was healed.

37 Then all the people of the Gadarenes besought him to leave them, because they were seized with a great fear; and Jesus went up into the boat and returned from thence.

38 But the man from whom the demons had gone out, besought him to remain with him; but Jesus dismissed him and said to him,

39 Return to your own house, and declare what God has done for you. And he went away, and preached throughout the city what Jesus had done for him.

40 When Jesus returned, a large multitude welcomed him, for they were all expecting him.

41 And a man named Jairus, a leader of the synagogue, fell at the feet of Jesus, and besought him to enter into his house.

42 For he had an only daughter, about twelve years old, and she was near death. And as Jesus went with him, a large crowd pressed against him.

43 Now a woman who had the hemorrhage for twelve years, and had spent all her wealth for doctors, could not be healed by anybody.

44 She came near him from behind, and touched the edge of his cloak; and immediately her hemorrhage stopped.

45 And Jesus said, Who touched me? And when all of them denied it, Simon Peter and those who were with him said to him, Teacher, the crowds are troubling you and pressing on you, and yet you say, Who has touched me?

46 But he said, Some one has touched me, for I know that power has gone out of me.

47 When the woman saw that she could not deceive him, she came trembling, and fell down and worshipped him; and she said in the presence of all the people for what purpose she had touched him, and how she was healed immediately.

48 Jesus said to her, Have courage, my daughter; your faith has healed you; go in peace.

49 While he was still talking, there came a man from the house of the leader of the synagogue, and said to him, Your daughter has died, do not trouble the teacher.

50 Jesus heard it and said to the father of the girl, Do not be afraid, but only believe, and she will be restored to life.

51 Jesus came into the house, and he did not allow anyone to enter with him, except Simon and James and John, and the father and mother of the girl.

52 And all of them were weeping and mourning over her; but Jesus said, Do not weep, for she is not dead but asleep.

53 And they laughed at him, for they knew that she was dead.

54 Then he put everybody out, and held her by her hand, and called her, and said, Little girl, arise.

55 And her spirit returned, and she got up immediately; and he commanded to give her something to eat.

56 And her parents were amazed; but he warned them, not to tell any man what had happened.

8 Прочие же упали на хорошую почву. Они взошли и принесли урожай во сто раз больше того, что было посеяно. Рассказав эту притчу, Иисус громко сказал: — У кого есть уши, чтобы слышать, пусть слышит!

9 И когда ученики спросили, что означает эта притча.

10 Иисус ответил: — Вам дано знать тайны Божьего Царства, другим же все остается в притчах, чтобы «они, смотря, не видели и, слушая, не понимали».

11 Вот значение этой притчи: семя — это Божье слово.

12 Семена, упавшие у дороги, — это те, кто слышит слово, но потом приходит дьявол и похищает слово из их сердец, чтобы они не поверили и не были бы спасены.

13 Семена, упавшие на камень, — это те, кто с радостью принимает слово, когда слышит его. Но у них нет корня, сначала они верят, но когда приходят времена испытаний, они отступаются.

14 Семена, упавшие в терновник, — это те люди, которые слышат слово, но со временем повседневные заботы, богатство и удовольствия заглушают их, и плод их не дозревает.

15 Семена же, упавшие на хорошую почву, — это люди, которые, слыша слово, хранят его в добром и честном сердце и приносят плод благодаря своей стойкости.

16 Никто, зажегши светильник, не ставит его под сосуд или под кровать, наоборот, его ставят на подставку, чтобы входящие видели свет.

17 Нет ничего тайного, что не стало бы явным, и нет ничего сокрытого, что не стало бы известным и не вышло на свет.

18 Итак, будьте внимательны к тому, как вы слушаете, потому что у кого есть, тому будет дано еще, и у кого нет, будет отнято и то, что, как ему кажется, он имеет.

19 К Иисусу пришли Его мать и братья, но из-за толпы не могли подойти к Нему.

20 Кто-то Ему передал: — Твои мать и братья стоят снаружи и хотят Тебя видеть.

21 Иисус ответил им: — Мои мать и братья — это те, кто слушает слово Божье и исполняет его.

25 — Где же ваша вера? — сказал Иисус ученикам. Они же, испуганные и удивленные, лишь спрашивали друг друга: — Кто Он, что даже ветрам и воде приказывает, и они повинуются Ему.

26 Они приплыли в область герасинцев, что напротив Галилеи.

27 Когда Иисус сошел на берег, Ему навстречу вышел человек из города, одержимый демонами. На нем уже давно не было одежды, и жил он не в доме, а в гробницах.

28 Когда он увидел Иисуса, он бросился к Его ногам и закричал во весь голос: — Что Ты от меня хочешь, Иисус, Сын Всевышнего Бога? Умоляю Тебя, не мучь меня! —

29 потому что Иисус приказал нечистому духу выйти из этого человека. (Демон часто овладевал этим человеком, и тогда, даже если его сковывали цепями по рукам и ногам и стерегли, он разрывал цепи, и демон гнал его в безлюдные места).

30 Иисус спросил его: — Как тебя зовут? — Легион, — ответил тот, потому что в него вошло много демонов.

31 И они стали умолять Иисуса не отсылать их в бездну.

32 Неподалеку на склоне горы в это время паслось большое стадо свиней, и демоны попросили Иисуса позволить им войти в них. Он позволил.

33 Когда демоны вышли из этого человека и вошли в свиней, все стадо бросилось с обрыва в озеро и утонуло.

34 Свинопасы, увидев, что произошло, побежали и рассказали обо всем в городе и в окрестностях.

35 Сошлись люди, чтобы посмотреть, что же случилось. Подойдя к Иисусу, они обнаружили, что человек, из которого были изгнаны демоны, сидит у ног Иисуса одетый и в здравом уме, и их охватил страх.

36 Очевидцы рассказали им о том, как был исцелен одержимый.

37 Тогда все жители страны Герасинской стали упрашивать Иисуса покинуть их края, потому что сильно испугались. Иисус сел в лодку и возвратился туда, откуда приплыл.

38 Человек, из которого вышли демоны, просил взять его с Собой, но Иисус отослал его, сказав:

39 — Возвращайся домой и расскажи, что сделал для тебя Бог. Тот пошел, рассказывая по всему городу о том, что сделал для него Иисус.

40 Когда Иисус возвратился, Его приветствовала большая толпа, потому что все ждали Его.

41 К Нему подошел человек по имени Иаир, который был начальником синагоги и, павши к Его ногам, стал просить Иисуса прийти к нему домой:

42 его единственная дочь, которой было около двенадцати лет, умирала. Иисус отправился туда в окружении плотной толпы.

43 В толпе была женщина, двенадцать лет страдавшая кровотечением; она истратила на врачей все свои средства, но никто не мог ее вылечить.

44 Она подошла сзади к Иисусу и прикоснулась к кисточке на краю Его одежды. Кровотечение сразу же остановилось.

45 — Кто ко Мне прикоснулся? — спросил Иисус. Никто не признавался, и Петр сказал: — Наставник, вокруг Тебя толпятся люди и напирают со всех сторон!

46 Но Иисус сказал: — Кто-то ко Мне прикоснулся. Я почувствовал, как из Меня вышла сила.

47 Тогда женщина, видя, что она не осталась незамеченной, подошла, дрожа, и пала перед Иисусом. Перед всем народом она рассказала, почему она к Нему прикоснулась и как сразу же была исцелена.

48 Тогда Иисус сказал ей: — Дочь Моя, твоя вера исцелила тебя. Иди с миром.

49 Иисус еще не договорил, как пришел человек из дома начальника синагоги. — Твоя дочь умерла, — сказал он, — не беспокой больше Учителя.

50 Услышав это, Иисус сказал Иаиру: — Не бойся, только верь, и девочка будет спасена.

51 Когда Он вошел в дом, то не позволил никому войти с Ним, кроме Петра, Иоанна, Иакова и родителей девочки.

52 Люди во дворе уже плакали и рыдали по ней. — Перестаньте плакать, — сказал Иисус, — ведь она не умерла, а спит.

53 Они стали смеяться над Ним, потому что знали, что девочка умерла.

54 Иисус же взял ее за руку и сказал: — Дитя, встань!

55 Дух девочки возвратился к ней, и она сразу же встала. Иисус сказал, чтобы ей дали есть.

56 Родители были поражены, но Иисус наказал им никому не рассказывать о том, что произошло.

22 It came to pass on one of the days, Jesus went up and sat in a boat with his disciples; and he said to them, Let us cross to the other side of the lake.

43 Now a woman who had the hemorrhage for twelve years, and had spent all her wealth for doctors, could not be healed by anybody.

43 В толпе была женщина, двенадцать лет страдавшая кровотечением; она истратила на врачей все свои средства, но никто не мог ее вылечить.

44 She came near him from behind, and touched the edge of his cloak; and immediately her hemorrhage stopped.

44 Она подошла сзади к Иисусу и прикоснулась к кисточке на краю Его одежды. Кровотечение сразу же остановилось.

45 And Jesus said, Who touched me? And when all of them denied it, Simon Peter and those who were with him said to him, Teacher, the crowds are troubling you and pressing on you, and yet you say, Who has touched me?

45 — Кто ко Мне прикоснулся? — спросил Иисус. Никто не признавался, и Петр сказал: — Наставник, вокруг Тебя толпятся люди и напирают со всех сторон!

46 But he said, Some one has touched me, for I know that power has gone out of me.

46 Но Иисус сказал: — Кто-то ко Мне прикоснулся. Я почувствовал, как из Меня вышла сила.

47 When the woman saw that she could not deceive him, she came trembling, and fell down and worshipped him; and she said in the presence of all the people for what purpose she had touched him, and how she was healed immediately.

47 Тогда женщина, видя, что она не осталась незамеченной, подошла, дрожа, и пала перед Иисусом. Перед всем народом она рассказала, почему она к Нему прикоснулась и как сразу же была исцелена.

48 Jesus said to her, Have courage, my daughter; your faith has healed you; go in peace.

48 Тогда Иисус сказал ей: — Дочь Моя, твоя вера исцелила тебя. Иди с миром.

49 While he was still talking, there came a man from the house of the leader of the synagogue, and said to him, Your daughter has died, do not trouble the teacher.

49 Иисус еще не договорил, как пришел человек из дома начальника синагоги. — Твоя дочь умерла, — сказал он, — не беспокой больше Учителя.

50 Jesus heard it and said to the father of the girl, Do not be afraid, but only believe, and she will be restored to life.

50 Услышав это, Иисус сказал Иаиру: — Не бойся, только верь, и девочка будет спасена.

51 Jesus came into the house, and he did not allow anyone to enter with him, except Simon and James and John, and the father and mother of the girl.

51 Когда Он вошел в дом, то не позволил никому войти с Ним, кроме Петра, Иоанна, Иакова и родителей девочки.

52 And all of them were weeping and mourning over her; but Jesus said, Do not weep, for she is not dead but asleep.

52 Люди во дворе уже плакали и рыдали по ней. — Перестаньте плакать, — сказал Иисус, — ведь она не умерла, а спит.

53 And they laughed at him, for they knew that she was dead.

53 Они стали смеяться над Ним, потому что знали, что девочка умерла.

54 Then he put everybody out, and held her by her hand, and called her, and said, Little girl, arise.

54 Иисус же взял ее за руку и сказал: — Дитя, встань!

55 And her spirit returned, and she got up immediately; and he commanded to give her something to eat.

55 Дух девочки возвратился к ней, и она сразу же встала. Иисус сказал, чтобы ей дали есть.

56 And her parents were amazed; but he warned them, not to tell any man what had happened.

56 Родители были поражены, но Иисус наказал им никому не рассказывать о том, что произошло.
